I was the perfect age when Sesame Street first hit the airwaves and still remember watching those early episodes with my sister. My favorite parts were anything animated and of course, the Muppet characters. Grover became my quick favorite, mainly because I thought that he was really funny. The fact that he would sometimes appear as Super Grover just put him over the top!
The Monster at the End of the Book was one of my favorites growing up! What an awesome story. I think that's how Grover became my favorite over Ernie...
ReplyDeleteCookie Monster rules over both.
ReplyDelete"COO-KIE! COO-KIE! COO-KIE! COO-KIE!"
"The Monster at the End of This Comic" — perfection.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of characters that improbably also have a superhero identity, any chance of a cover featuring the Monkees...?
Being a fan of all things Dracula when I was a little kid, the Count was my favorite on Sesame Street.
ReplyDeleteI used to run around the house with a towel fastened by a safety pin, jumping off chairs. Drove my mom crazy.
m.p.
I've gotten a few requests for the Monkees, but I haven't cracked a good concept yet. Maybe one of these days...
ReplyDeleteHey, you know that Batman cover, with the faux-Beatles on it? Maybe something in that sort of vein... Maybe throw in the Joker, and it's "Getting The Funniest Looks!"
ReplyDeleteThanks for this latest team-up. I have been going through your archives and I am very impressed at what you are doing. I have a few suggestions if you don't mind.
ReplyDelete1.)Superman and Steel Sterling (golden age versions) Concept Superman sprawled on the ground with Metallo in the back ground, and Steel Sterling challenging Metallo. Speech balloon could read: "You've bested the Man of Tomorrow, Metalo, now try your luck with the Man of Steel." (The epithet "Man of Steel" was used by Steel Sterling, long before Superman acquired it.)
2.)Kraven and the Fox: Fox Hunt
3.)Captain America and the Shield vs Red Skull and the Hun
4.)Black Jack vs Royal Flush Gang: Flushed
5.)Jaguar and Animal Man
6.)1960's Mighty Crusaders vs Doctor Doom: Deliver us from Doom
7.)Justice League (80s) vs Mighty Crusaders (80s): Enthralled by the Brain Emperor
8.)Comet vs X-Men (or just Cyclops): Rogue Star
space ranger and nova or yellow clad daredevil also 7 of 9 meets rosie from jetsons
ReplyDelete@ Ross re: bygrinstow's suggestion.
ReplyDeleteYou could always do Monkeemen meet the Impossibles.
The Monkees? Well, here's a fairly good image. I could picture them with the Inferior Five, or the Fantastic Four, or the Greatest American Hero, or Detective Chimp (Monkees vs. Chimp?), or (here's a high concept idea) 'Mazing Man! Hey, they all wear M's...
ReplyDeleteHmmm. That makes me think... 'Mazing Man vs. Forbush Man?
Or here...
ReplyDeleteHello, everybodeeeeee! :)
