Swamp Thing and Conan

One of the cool things about Swamp Thing and Conan is how they inspired the artists that worked on them.  Not only could I count on talents like John Buscema, Steve Bissette or Bernie Wrightson to provide amazing depictions of their heroes in action, I knew that that creepy villains that they faced and the landscapes that they fought upon would be just as beautifully illustrated.

  1. Cool team-up! Wasn't Swamp Thing into time travel for awhile?

Isn't it about time for a Swamp Thing re-boot film? The first film was pretty good. I was never able to follow the series though...

Was that Conan re-boot film any good? I still haven't seen it yet.

  2. The time is right for a full CGI Swamp Thing movie without a trace of camp.

  3. Swampy looks good here. Big, solid & intimidating just like I remember Wrightson drawing him. Although I haven't kept up with all of his appearances over the years,I don't think any artist since has portrayed him better.
I'm glad we can't see the woman's face as it let's the viewers imagine what she looks like.
    Nice cover.

  4. Fantastic civer, as always. Swampy totally looks like he fits in Conan's world.

When you have a chance, you might want to fix the spelling of the word "sorceress."

  6. That scantily-clad redhead is probably really a Serpent Man in disguise.

  7. @Air Dave: I don't have a complete run of Swamp Thing, but there have been a number of stories in which he was sent through time. In pre-Crisis, after his original series ended, the Challengers of the Unknown title was revived and they brought Swamp Thing and Deadman into the far future to save Rip Hunter. Constantine brought him onto the Monitor's ship during Crisis, but the gathering of heroes they witnessed was still in their near future. In the New52 series, he and Animal Man were trapped in an alternate future caused by their absence.

However, I think the time travel you're referring to was when aliens during INVASION sent him back in time to eliminate him from the war because killing him would just result in another plant elemental replacing him. He then spent about a year of the comic series (1989) living through hundreds of years of Earth history, meeting Sgt. Rock, Enemy Ace, Jonah Hex, Shining Knight, etc. Because the story went on for so long it felt like being "into time travel" even if it wasn't originally his choice.
