Nick Fury Joins G.I. Joe

When Tom Zilla, (a Patron of the site in good standing) suggested a Fury/G.I. Joe team-up, I just had to smack my head because I hadn't thought of it before.  It really is a natural pairing. With all of the comics, cartoons and movies that have come along in the last few decades, G.I. Joe has a different meaning to fans of today than when I was a kid.  I remember the large size action figures with the real hair, cool accessories and king-fu grips.  The later miniature versions that came along and became the norm always seemed to pale in comparison to me.

  1. Although the next generation G.I. Joe was more diverse, I liked the original G.I. Joe. I was a huge fan of Mego and their figure line. I guess it was huge that Kenner got the Star Wars figure license and not Mego. That was the end of Mego and the start of smaller action figures. The universe has never been the same since.

  2. Appropriate. The 1980s GI JOE team grew out of a proposal Larry Hama made for a book starring Nick Fury Jr and Shield. It then mutated when Hasbro came to Marvel to revamp GI JOE. Hydra=Cobra, Shield=GI Joe. Hawk=Nick Fury Jr etc

  3. Yeah, but Cobra doesn't have that scary oath.

    "Hail, Hydra!Immortal Hydra!
Never shall we die.Cut off one limb, and two more shall yakes it place!"

    "We serve the Supreme Hydra,
As the world shall soon serve us!"

    Whew! [Insert "shiver" icon, here.]

  6. Feels great seeing the REAL Nick Fury in a cover, to tell the truth I'm a little tired of the ultimate version, not a fan of changing races of iconic chatacters

  7. Can't get past the fact that it looks like Stalker is shooting Snake-Eyes in the back on this cover.
