Batman Vs. Darth Vader

After watching Gone Girl, I think that Ben Affleck is more than ready to take on the role of Batman.  He's got the appearance and attitude down, and we know he looks good in the suit from what has been shown thus far.  As cool as it will be to see him mix it up with Superman and then the whole Justice League, what I am really hoping for is to see an Affleck-Directed Batman solo film.  His work in Gone Baby Gone, The Town, and Argo show he has a great sensibility for it and I be he could give audiences a great version of Gotham City.

This confrontation has been a long time coming - Vader has had a grudge against Batman since they first met way back in August of 2011.

  1. I just watched that fan-video and was disappointed by the inevitable ending...

It really doesn't matter how good Ben Affleck is as Batman. What matters now is the anticipation. We enjoy and like or hate movies so far in advance of them being in theaters.

Maybe Ben Affleck can turn the Batman franchise around. I'd settle for something between Michael Keaton, Kevin Conroy and Adam West. Not as dark, but not as silly.

  2. Bat in the Sum posted an updated version of that Batman/Darth battle with an alternate ending that you may like better.

  3. Bruce Wayne will never surrender to it as willingly as pouty teen Anakin Skywalker did. And, that's a fact.

  4. P.S.---Any chance of a confrontation between Vader and, say, Batman Beyond?

  5. When I first saw Star Wars in 1977 with a friend, we both left the theater saying, "Not influenced by Kirby's New Gods much, was it?" Darth Vader = Darkseid, The Force = The Source, Death Star = Apokolips, Luke Skywalker with his light saber = Lightray (we didn't know yet that he was Vader's son, so we thought Han Solo was the Orion equivalent), Obi-Wan Kenobi = Highfather, and if you want to stretch things a bit, R2D2 = Mother Box.

I guess what I'm getting at is, how about a Star Wars/New Gods cover?

  6. I like using Vader, so there will definitely be more of him - as well as the rest of the Star Wars cast...

  7. Great cover. Love your work. Not an Afleck fan however. I d rather see Matt Damon for that matter. The New Gods/Star Wars thing is going around; for the record; it s clearly Dune that influenced Star Wars. It would make more sense to delve into Kirby;s influences from my perspective.

  8. To Morgan et. al---Lucas was inspired by differnt mythological archetypes. Not just comic books or samurai films.

  9. How about teaming up Batman with Neo from the Matrix.

  10. Batman and Vader also had a meeting last July, with Bats accompanied by the Outsiders, and this cover looks like it would be a magnificent follow-up to that story. In fact, all three look like they'd been planned like this from the start.

All that's left now is to account for the other Outsiders.

Oh, and maybe Vader can encounter Ambush Bug some time. "May the farce be with you!" :)

  11. Batman and Neo have met during my B&B Lost issues days - click on "Matrix" in the labels and you'll find it!

Good call on the the BATO/Doom connection, Bob! Ummm... I planned it that way!

  12. This one is excellent as always, but I'm just wondering why no one's asked the obvious question.... Darkseid vs Darth Vader! Have you done one? I think that would be a good follow up to this cover.

  13. Like Isaac, I was about to ask about Vader and Darkseid... with the latter having the clear upper hand. After all, Vader serving the "Dark Side" could well be "Darkseid" instead!
