The X-Files is the latest series rumored for a revival. David Duchovny had expressed an interest in returning with Gillian Anderson and creator Chris Carter for a limited return engagement of the hit show. I was a big fan when the series originally aired, and even though I wasn't crazy about the movies that followed, I think this could be very cool. Let's hope they finally find some definitive answers to the many plot threads still dangling.
The X-Files was a very cool show! A very cool comic book too. I have not read the recent series, though. The X-Files was a lot like CSI - there was the show and the comic book and the paperback novels. I would argue that The X-Files, much like Star Trek: The Next Generation exhausted a lot of great storylines before making the jump from television to movies. The films were a little disappointing because there just was no new ground. Is there going to be new ground for a reunion reboot?
ReplyDeleteI think the X-Files TV programme just took it TOO far. The same can be said for "Heroes". Often they spoil a great thing by dragging on for too long.
ReplyDeleteI agree. It would be a cool explanation, for example, if the 2012 invasion did not occur as prophesied because its opening salvo (a Black Oil-based daikaiju named Yongarry) had been defeated by Gojira!
ReplyDelete;-D
Or maybe it came 4 years earlier, as seen in Godzilla: Final Wars.
ReplyDeleteI'll be interested in what they do with this, but I did get pretty burned out on the last few seasons of the show.
@John Pitt: the only X-FILES episodes that disappointed me were the ones involving a latter-day Frankenstein monster; the one directed by Stephen King; and the one where Burt Reynolds (literally) played God!
ReplyDeleteHEROES, on the other hand, permanently lost my interest after Season 2. Partly, because they went to the Prevent-The-Dystopian-Future well once too often. And, partly, because they never explained what happened to Peter's Irish girlfriend!
Hence, I'm not quite certain HEROES REBORN will be getting my viewership. Then, again, I didn't think LOST would ever make it past Season 1, so I never watched that. And, look how long that (unfortunately) ran!
