I watched the recent CGI animated
Astro Boy movie, and despite all of the current day technology that went into it, it just didn't have the same magic for me as the classic cartoons. There's something about those black an d white episodes that was kind of cool. The robotic character I
really want to see, though, will be in action this Summer. I can't wait until we get to see the birth of The Vision in
Avengers: The Age of Ultron.
I'd like to see "him" as the secret brains behind a Stark Industries rival called Ultronics.
ReplyDeleteBut, the script writers probably already have something else in mind.
All right, one of my ideas sees fruition!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the inspiration, Acer!
ReplyDeleteI remember the three rotating cartoons, ASTRO BOY, GIGANTOR, and MARINE BOY.In the days before the Google machine, it took me forever to find out the name of that third cartoon. All I remembered was a kid and his dad chewing Oxy-Gum and being able to breathe underwater for an hour.
ReplyDeleteOh, sorry. It was TOBOR, THE 8TH MAN. The ASTRO BOY cartoons ran every day.
I never saw Astro Boy...I grew up on Prince Planet, Kimba and Speed Racer...
ReplyDeleteI did watch the movie and then the cartoons on Netflix and liked the cartoons much better than the movie...
Can't wait for Avengers 2!
My brothers and I used to argue who would win in a fight: Marineboy (then-voiced by the same American actress who anglo-dubbed for Speed Racer's girlfriend, Trixie)? Or Aquaman (then-voiced, for Filmation, by Marvin Miller)?
ReplyDeleteIf it was ever done as a real world comic crossover, Vassa (evil Queen of the Mermen) would probably instigate everything by kidnapping Mera and Neptina.
I wrote a book about the Marine Boy series, complete with interviews with Corinne Orr and the late Peter Fernandez. It's on Amazon, even!
