The cover is the result of a request/challenge from Michael Eury, Editor of the always awesome Back Issue Magazine. I only have vague memories of The Partridge Family - it didn't make much of an impression on me other than liking some of the music and the fact that I kind of looked like a young Danny Bonaduce (we have since gone in different directions). Still, this idea was too weird not to try. Thanks for the suggestion, Michael!

ReplyDeleteI watched The Partridge Family as a kid, and there are several moments that still stick in my mind. The most vivid was right after Danny had let a cat of the bag, and Reuben said to him, "If you had a neck, I'd wring it."
(I also tended to wonder about a kid as young as Chris Patridge plying drums well ennough for a band of their caliber, but then I decided, "What the heck, it's just a TV show." In retrospect they might have tried playing with the idea that he was a musical prodigy, but I don't think they ever did.)
Still, you have a fun one here. :)

If you feature the Honeymooners they should be paired with the Flintstones since Fred is just a prehistoric version of Ralph.

I thought the Martian Manhunter/Cookie Monster cover was fondest, but this one is even more so! LoL.
ReplyDeleteOut of the classic sitcoms of the 60s/early 70s, Partridge Family was one I never really got into (Monkees too, but it was rarely rerun here when I was a kid). I did love Susan Dey though!

I've got to agree with my namesake and Bob Buethe. The Joker would have been more ideal as part of, say, a Batman/Monkees team-up. Especially, given the (admittedly indirect) Jack Nicholson connection!
