There have been nods to Hal Jordan in the CW's
Arrow, and I would love to see him show up there or on
The Flash. Many have speculated that the Justice League film will feayture John Stewart rather than Hal due to the lackluster performance of the Green Lantern movie. If that preoves to be the case I see no reason whay Hal could not join with the TV JLA that they are assembling - Green Arrow, Flash, Black Canary, Firestorm, and The Atom are already a part of that world, so why not?
Hal Jordan was once billed as a "man without fear", and whatever knows fear burns at the Man-Thing's touch, and on this cover Hal is not burning. Interesting.
ReplyDeleteI think the Man-Thing would make a great addition to the Sinestro Corps.
What a POWERFUL cover !
ReplyDeleteGreat job !
Thanks, Michael! It was not an easy one to make! It's one of my personal favorites.
ReplyDeleteReally cool cover! And I love the comment about Man-Thing going into the Sinestro Corps!
ReplyDeleteOrdinaryguy2
This one really, really stands out. Good work.
ReplyDeleteWow! What covers did you use to create this?
ReplyDeleteI used Marvel Team-Up #122, and a random Neal Adams GL head - changed Spidey-s body to GL's by using the color replacement and clone stamp tools in Photoshop then added in the GL insignia.
ReplyDelete"You have the ability to inspire great fear, and whatever knows fear, BURNS AT THE MAN-THINGS TOUCH!"
ReplyDeleteFor some reason, when I saw this, I thought:
ReplyDelete"Don't use green on the cover." -that apocryphal Stan Lee remark.
Enjoyed the insight into your techniques of combining covers, replacing Spidey for GL. I often wonder how you do them, especially on these complicated ones.
You suggested to some newcomer recently to check the archives. I think I my have come in before or shortly after B&B became MTU, and surfed backward some, but I realized I never went all the way back, so yesterday I did, and saw the earliest ones for the first time, and read how you got into this blog. :D
You know; having Parallax corrupt the Puffball GL might be the way to bring these two together, for real! Some people might be prefer the talking carrot GL. But, I remember the evil Puffballs from the "Crossroads of Eternity" story arc in THE INCREDIBLE HULK. They were a pretty refreshing idea for a super-villain, back in the 1980's. The slyest Hulk-foe since the Leader's debut!
ReplyDeleteSo, having Jordan and the Man-Thing go after a ring-wielding version of the Puffballs is a natural extension, in my permanent opinion.
