Like Thor, Iron Man is a hero that I enjoy pairing alongside Superman. I can see them getting along in their heroic identities, and working well together. Clark Kent and Tony Stark on the other hand would probably not be such fast friends - Stark has a natural mistrust of snooping reporters and Kent was raised with much better manners than a rich narcissist. The juxtaposition of those two sets of relationships could make for a fun tale.
And it looks like it's "Opposing Personalities Week" in STF:TLI!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you on this one, of course. The comics versions of these characters would be a very interesting mix. It'd be a little like putting together the Dean Cain and Robert Downey Jr. versions!
Side suggestion: This just came to me about a half-hour ago: Captain America and Yankee Poodle! Could one ever find a more contrasting pair of All-American heroes?
Awww, yeah! Sweet! I could see this happening in the mid-'70's!
ReplyDeleteI think the first issue I got of The Invincible Iron Man was with rocket skates versus The Mad Thinker. It was in a three-pack with The Amazing Spider-Man and The Incredible Hulk - The Hulk and Glorian - - Glorian! Anyone... anyone...Bueller...
DC Comics Presents should have branched out to cross-company team-ups!
I like it. Personally, I would love to see you do a covers with a reporter team up. Ben Urich and a depowered Clark Kent. Or maybe several reporters competing for a story. I don't know just saying, I don't want to tell you how to do your work.
ReplyDeleteNo worries, I like reading suggestions. If I don't respond to every single team-up suggestion I get, that's because the answer is almost always the same - "Maybe!"
ReplyDeleteA reporter team up with Brenda Starr and Lois Lane might be fun.
Or Superman and the Shadow, so we can find out whether Lois and Margo Lane are really related.
ReplyDeleteIIRC, someone once asked that in a lettercol, and the editor jokingly said yes, but their closest common ancestor was Lazarus Lane -- El Diablo from Weird Western Tales.
Awesome!
