Gargoyles and Gargoyle

I avoided Disney's animated Gargoyles series when it first came out, thinking it was meant for very young viewers.  After hearing plenty of positive reviews, I gave the series a shot in reruns and I am glad that I did.  I liked all of the characters and the continuity between episodes made for and engaging saga.

  1. Gargoyles seasons 1 & 2 (there was no season 3 :P )were amazing. Greg Weisman knew how to play the long game in his storytelling and it usually paid off very well. I hear he's now working on Star Wars Rebels after the unceremonious end of Young Justice.

  2. Gargoyles was pretty good. I think animation and all-ages programming gets the short straw - notice that Legend of Korra was unceremoniously yanked off Nick and will now run on digital media - except Netflix. Good thing my son is internet savvy and will be able to track it down. My point, programmers are pretty haphazard with programming, especially children's programming.

Now I will go and re-read my Marvel Gargoyles comics...

  3. I remember seeing Gargoyle (Marvel) on the cover of The New Defenders (I think) along with The Hulk and Dr. Strange. I always liked and preferred superhero teams with only a few members (trios or four members at most)so The Defenders always intrigued. But I was a broke kid at the time and collected mostly DC. I am still hoping that Marvel Films has plans for putting together a Defenders movie with Dr. Strange, The Hulk, Ghostrider, (Fox owns the rights to Namor) Black Cat and Son of Satan. What do YOU guys think?

  4. To the first Anonymous; actually there _was_ a season three. It merely underwent a title change to GARGOYLES: THE GOLIATH CHRONICLES. At which point, it became a Saturday morning cartoon on ABC, rather than a daily first-run syndicated series on the Fox Network.

  5. Nonononono.... as far as I'm concerned, there was NO season 3.

Let me stay in my happy place. :P

  7. "Let me stay in my happy place."

No can do. Because, MY concern-that others accept, whether they like it or not, that there indisputably was a third season--is of over-riding priority.
