Time for another all-Kirby cover. It's amazing to look at today's comics and see how many of his characters and designs are being used by DC, Marvel and beyond. There's a reason that in a field with so many amazing creators, only he is called The King. Like the greatest from any artistic genre, I am confident that he will be inspiring artists for generations to come.
A story this epic cannot be contained to a single issue... stay tuned for part two tomorrow!
Cool cover.
ReplyDeleteIt's pretty amazing that a guy in a speedo with pointy ears and wings on his feet has worked for so long without much improvement on design.
Well, he was the DEFINITIVE artist, defining the genre of literature we call Comic Books/Graphic Literature. Aparo, Colon, Perez and many others all brought it to new heights, but Jack "King" Kirby defined it. He defined it!
ReplyDeletePretty sure Bill Everett created Subby rather than jack Kirby..
ReplyDeleteSure, But Kirby's work on the character still inspired those who followed him.
ReplyDeleteA few days ago, there was an episode of Nature on PBS with the title "Wolverine: Chasing the Phantom". It was about the elusive nature of the Canadian carnivore, but for a moment I thought that Super-Team Family: the Lost Issues had made it to TV.
