Martian Manhunter Vs. Fin Fang Foom

I love that Fin Fang Foom graduated from his early days as the villain of a monster comic to becoming a fairly wall known opponent  in the Marvel superhero line of titles.  There were a lot of giant monsters terrorizing the populace when Foom first hit the scene, but few would be able to transition genres they way that he has managed to. And why not?  With creators like Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, it's not surprising that other writes would like to use him in their stories.  Now let's get him into an Iron Man or Thor movie

  1. Given his weakness against fire, Martian Manhunter is the perfect DC hero to put against Fin Fang Foom, at least for dramatic purposes. he has the most impressive array of powers, but any time a superhero faces an opponent based on his specific weakness (like Superman versus Metallo) it makes for a special challenge.

Another possibility would be to put FFF up against a DC hero with no actual superpowers, such as Green Arrow. (If you put him against Batman, the poor dragon won't stand a chance!) Better yet, put him up against the Shining Knight; what could be cooler than a knight versus a dragon?

I hadn't really thought about seeing FFF in one of the Marvel movies, but now that you mention it that would be cool. Of those currently in production, Iron Man does seem like the right fit, though he's epic enough that it might seem right to bring the whole Avengers team against him.

  2. FIN FANG FOOM!!!!!

Love that monster! I first read his reprinted yarn in an issue of Fantasy Masterpieces when I was mere youth, and it made a mighty impression.

As you say, it was way cool when he drifted out of the Atlas valley into the broader Marvel Universe, but I haven't been as happy with all his appearances. It's inevitable that familiarity will breed some loss awe, and sadly that's happened with our favorite dragon.

But that first masterpiece by Lee and Kirby and Ayers is a comic pearl of great price.

    Rip Off
