Doctor Doom and The Joker
To be honest, I don't know how long that Doctor Doom would put up with a partnership with the Joker, but that would be part of the fun of a story like this. This cover represents the two greatest rivalries in comics, in my opinion. The Joker and Batman are such complete opposites that it is always interesting watching them clash with one another. Doom and Reed Richards on the other hand had quite a bit in common at one time - their great intellects led them to the same courses in college, after all. The drama between them lies in how their personalities sent them on widely divergent paths. I get the feeling that Doom is secretly envious of Mr. Fantastic while The Joker probably pities Batman in his own crazy way.
Dave sez,
ReplyDeleteThis is all kinds of awesome!
I can't wait for the Fantastic Four film rights to revert back to Marvel/Disney, and see the franchise rebooted.
;) I'm a snarky cynic, so I would believe we might see an FF movie before a live-action Justice League movie! HA!
Wow, this cover is all kinds of amazing. I detect John Buscema, J.L. Garcia Lopez and a little Brian Bolland. Am i right? and if I am, where's my no-prize? ;)
ReplyDeleteIsaac, just check the labels for the artists, I usually have them listed there.
ReplyDeleteI like your take on how the relationship between Victor and the Joker would work out. I can visualize a panel with Doom right after a conversation with Joker: [thought balloon] "Note to self: kill him next."
ReplyDeleteI must say, this cover would certainly interest me in reading the story.
@Bob Greenwade, exactly. Years ago, Wizard ranked the top ten list of villains of all time, and both these two made the cut. Which wasn't surprising, but it was funny how they had Doom straight up murder the Joker's ass. They're take was, Doom sees himself do far ahead of the Joker's mind-games that he wouldn't even bother wasting his time playing them; he'd just straight up blast his ass, ans then complain about it afterwards:)
