Aquaman and Wolverine

This is an admittedly weird one, but I am sure a creative Bob Haney type author could make a story to fit this cover.  I wanted to use the cool blue costume that was created for Aquaman in a 1986 mini-series.  I really liked that new look and was disappointed that it did not last beyond those four issues.  DC gave Tempest,  the grown up Aqualad, a red version of the outfit -  but I don't think it worked as well as the original  blue design.

  2. Cool idea! This is my first exposure to Aquaman's blue outfit, so it really threw me. But the cover with Wolvie being attacked by a giant cephalapod does kind of scream for Aquaman to be snuck in.

Say... any possibility of seeing the characters from "Just Imagine Stan Lee Creating the DC Universe"? I could certainly see some of those characters teaming up with the Marvel characters to whom they correspond: Aquaman and the Human Torch, Green Lantern and Silver Surfer, Wonder Woman and Thor, and so forth.

  3. Bob Haney was the best and right next to Mike W. Barr in writing the best Brave & The Bold stories.

  4. One-off characters like that are tough because there are so few images around to use.

  5. Thank you, Joe - I'm a huge fan of your art and I am glad for the chance to feature it on the blog.

  6. Dave sez,

Sorry, but I have to admit, I was never a fan of Aquaman's Blue costume. I just seemed like he'd be a floating head, like standing in front of a "green screen".

    But that's just me.

I would totally take the current Aquaman against Wolverine - and Aquaman would take round one, with Wolverine slicing Arthur up, then Mera whipping up some serious water-bending on him...Then they'd make nice and clean Ocean Master's and Mole Man's clock...

  8. @Bob Greenwade: the actual Silver Surfer and a Green Lantern were paired in a late 1990's one shot. Maybe the Stan Lee GL could team up with the Tangent version.

@Anonymoous: Devil Dinosaur guest starred in Marvel's Godzilla comic towards the end of the series in 1979. It was shortly after the Kirby series was cancelled and Marvel decided to answer the question of whether Devil was in continuity. Then they ignored him for almost a decade.

  9. It'd be very cool to see the Tangent GL in something upcoming. I think I'd like to see her with someone equally mysterious... or, at the opposite end of the spectrum, someone highly counterintuitive, like the Transformers.

  10. See I know a lot people hate on that outfit, but I like it. It's something and different. I still think he could use that outfit, especially for stealth missions or during war campaigns, to let the enemy he's serious. Plus I have the DCUC action figure w/this outfit, so yeah I'm a bit partial to it:)

This was my favorite incarnation of Aquaman, and was disappointed that it came to an end. sheesh. The old baby boomers who hate change truly need to just die off so the new generation can take over.
