Mr. T and The Defenders

Well, the new Avengers trailer has been released and we finally got a good look at The Hulk in action.  That shot of him catching Iron Man in mid-air looked awesome! This is going to be a fun summer for movies!

While doing this cover I wondered whether Lou Ferrigno and Mr. T were ever featured together in anything.  They used to make those Incredible Hulk TV movies after the series had ended - how fun would it have been if  Mr. T had appeared in one of them and gone toe to toe with The Hulk?  They really missed a golden opportunity there!

  2. Dave sez,

Ha! Awww, yeah! The only thing better than seeing The Hulk catch Iron Man was seeing The Hulk standing assembled with the other Avengers. I'm still trying to wrap my brain around how Marvel could let The Hulk go after three issues and bring in Cap and NEVER find a way to bring The Hulk back as a member...

Marvel doesn't really do licensed properties any more...

    I had the four-issue mini-series for The A-Team...

  3. At first I thought you'd made a mistake and put two Marvel features together because of the A-Team mini series (was that Star Comics?), but then I remembered that the Mr. T logo came from some Neal Adams project (Continuity or Windjammer?) from the 1990's. It came out some time before the highly promoted Ultimate Warrior comic book.

  4. as a die-hard DC fan, back in the day, The Defenders was the one marvel book I loved. I loved the off-beat, odd collection of heroes and the supernatural slant to the adventures. I lamented the fact that DC never really have an equivalent, and still doesn't. I didn't like last years' Shadowpact and I'm confused about this year's Justice League Dark. huh? whats the point of their association with the JLA? its as ridiculous as making Batwing an African- affiliated Batman rather than just creating a new African superhero. The marketing dept. at DC are imitating the marketing foolery that plagued Marvel throughout the 1990's/200s.

  6. One of your funniest covers yet, and it's great to see the Defenders represented! I used to think Nighthawk was a pretty cool-looking character; I wouldn't mind seeing more of him.

Any chance of a Yellowjacket cover down the road? Maybe teamed with the Atom? YJ was one of my favorite heroes back in the day, before Shooter had him punch out Jan, ruining the YJ character forever.
