Superman and Thor
This is another pairing that I really like and will revisit in the future. It was great to see the two share a lot of screen time together in JLA/Avengers, but I would still love to see a team up featuring them without their respective teams. We will be seeing new films featuring both characters soon, each by a director making heir first mark on the franchises. Thor was a strong start, but I would like to see more action (with helmet on, thank you!) in a sequel. I have no fear about lack of action in a Zach Snyder film, but I hope his Man of Steel has a strong script to go with what I am sure will be impressive visuals. I'm not going to nit pick too much in advance though - it's a great time to be a comic fan when there are so many genre-based projects to look forward to.
"Thor-El." That cracks me up.
ReplyDeleteSo he's superMan's cousin?
ReplyDeleteDave sez,
ReplyDeleteWicked cool!
For being The Last Son of Krypton, he sure has a lot of missing family members...
:)
I have high hopes for Man of Steel.
I think the Marvel movies will continue to excel.
DC needs to step up and take their live-action properties to the next level. The DC animated movies are phenomenal! Live action needs a little work...
Now this would be a story worth writing. Do you do FanFic?
ReplyDeleteI leave the stories up to the viewer's imagination...
ReplyDelete....looking forward to seeing renditions of Superman by Dick Giordano, George Perez or Neal Adams in the future. Not really a fan of the 1950's/60's Curt Swan unfortunately. Some may disagree but I feel it was an era of stagnation for DC, as Marvel zoomed ahead in innovative storytelling and pushed the envelope in terms of artwork.
ReplyDeleteI thought that Superman was by Wayne Boring. There was an overlap period when they both did Superman stories for different titles, and Swan might have even inked Boring early on. I always thought Swan's art was dull and stiff when I was a kid. Rereading them as an adult he came across more as a talented craftsman who was hamstrung by scripts that bordered on the sociopathic. He wasn't able to really soar until the 1980's when his output naturally slowed down.
ReplyDeleteAnother perfect match up! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see a pairing of the late-60s drawn Jack Kirby Thor and the Superman that Kirby he drew when he took over Jimmy Olsen.
ReplyDeleteHint, hint ...
It's beautiful. This is SO 60's Superman. Uncle Mort must be grousing in his grave! He he.
ReplyDeleteI have enjoyed each and every one of your Superman and Thor team ups - I hope there are more down the line.
ReplyDeleteThe more of these I see, the more I wish I could read them! But they're not real. :-(
ReplyDeleteAmazing!
