The Thing and The Secret Six

Secret Six is one of those fun books to come out of the last decade that will unfortunately be a victim of the DCU reboot, and that's too bad. I really liked what Gail Simone did to flesh out characters like Bane, Deadshot and Catman and the book had a wickedly fun dark sense of humor to it. Of course, there is some solace in the fact that there is a new Suicide Squad book amongst the reboot titles, and hopefully that will strike some of the same notes that Secret Six was popular for. Other than Deadshot, I don't know if any of the other characters from SS will apear in it.

    Fun cover!
So this new Secret Six, looks an awful lot like the Suicide Squad.

What was this new Secret Six about? I remember the original being something like Mission: Impossible with six people brought together by a mysterious Mockinbird...

  2. "Fatal Ultimatum" sounds like an oxymoron to me.

  3. Have you ever thought of teaming Batman or the Thing with any of the Archie heroes. Any from the Blackc Hood to Pureheart.

  4. Aside from Deadshot, King Shark, who has been in Secret Six for several issues, will also appear in the new Suicide Squad book. I just hope Amanda Waller will as well. Now there's someone who could go up against Ben for sheer intimidation!

  5. @Kathy and Dave:
After "Identity Crisis" and before "Infinite Crisis" there were four mini-series linking them. One was "Villains United" in which the powerhouse villains (Luthor, Black Adam, Deathstroke, etc.) offer to 'protect' the b-grade and c-grade villains from vengeful heroes using strength through numbers. In reality it's a 'join or die' offer and the Secret Six were the ones who said no.

  6. Rick - the closest I came was Betty and Veronica. I did try to do a Mighty Crusaders issue but couldn't come up with images that worked as well as I wanted.
