Invisible Girl and Sue Dibny

Thanks to Mike Selinker for the suggestion to pair these two together!  Sue Dibny is one of my favorite supporting characters, so his idea inspired me.  I had to do a bit of image extension before I could add the second Sue in.  Here's a look at the behind the scenes progress:

  1. It's a slender Reed on which to base a story (*rimshot*)... but it works! ;)

  3. Somehow, it never occurred to me that the two stretching heroes refereed to here both had wives named Sue. I'm ashamed of myself- that's exactly the sort of thing I usually notice.

    1. Not as ashamed as I was when I realized that two big characters both had a mother named Martha. Took a not great movie for that to click with me.

  4. @RamonTJR: SvB:DOJ, at it worst, was still 10x better than BATMAN FOREVER at its best.*

@Ross: I remember the original story, as well. One of the few times I've ever mentally cheered for the villainess (Heather was most definitely NOT a ditzy blonde)! As for the title? I love it! The premise, too. It makes me wonder which loved ones would go looking if the rest of the Expansion Team was mysteriously MIA.

    2. That was Batman and Robin, not Batman Forever.

    3. @Ben W: A clear-case of mercifully self-induced amnesia. :-)

  5. Never saw Sue with elastic powers. Must have been after my prime comic purchasing years.

    1. @Anon939: they were simulated for the sake of the original two-parter.

@Ross: Anon924 brings up a good point. As it's almost five years since they last appeared here (see STF #3370), how about a sequel teaming up the Two Sues teaming up with Mr. Incredible and whoever Mr. Gum's significant other is) to solve the mystery of who absconded with the Expansion Team.

And, while it might be fitting to see such a sequel on the actual fifth anniversary (7/5/26), I realize that, with your schedule already pretty well planned in advance, it might be too much of a stretch.

  7. I'd suggest bringing in Bob Parr (Mr. Incredible) and turning this into an Expansion Team two-parter, but I don't think Jack Pomade (Mr. Gum) has a significant other.

Say, maybe you should fix him up with someone, Ross. My first inclination is Bowler from the Mystery Men, or possibly American Maid, but others may prefer someone like She-Hulk, Squirrel Girl, or Gwenpool.

  8. We were long overdue for a double female team-up. I think the last one was Maxima vs She-Hulk about 7 weeks ago. You're not running out of double female ideas are ya? Maybe fans can summit a bunch to you here in May.

    1. I've had a couple of triple female ideas that I've put forward: Stature, Elasti-Girl (Doom Patrol), and Ginormica (Monsters vs. Aliens) for "Fezzik's Angels"; and Medusa, Godiva, and Entrapta.
