Frank Castle may not be the type to train under someone else, but maybe he would make an exception for Ted Grant. Pity the bad guys that try to interrupt their sparring session!.

Well, as he's a former Force Recon marine (and, originally, a Vietnam War veteran, too), he certainly had to muster the patience to endure basic training at USMC boot camp. Plus, paratrooper cross-training at Homestead Air Force Base and special warfare cross-training with the U.S. Navy Seals! So, I would say his patience for training under someone in particular is proportionate to the value of what they have to teach...and how vital a necessity it is for him to learn.

ReplyDeleteAlthough... maybe this is a follow-up to #3865? Maybe Frank's just looking for other options.
It might even make an interesting story arc in the actual comics if the Punisher were to try using non-lethal weapons -- of the most humiliating type. Even criminals who don't fear death -- possibly because they can't be killed, at least with conventional weapons -- can be afraid of humiliation.
In the STFU, he might even reconnect with Harley Quinn (or reach out to the Tangent Universe Joker) to learn a few things about non-lethal weapons, and possibly even figure out how to put the "pun" in "Punisher." I think that story would be Number One with a bullet!
But in the interest of taking Frank in the other direction... has he ever taken on Intergang?
Or, at the very least, faced off against the FGH (Forward-pointing Gun Hands)?
