Legion of Super-Pets and Cosmo
This would be an enjoyable battle to see. The High Evolutionary is one of the more vile villains out there, and it would be fitting to see his comeuppance delivered by a team of animal heroes.
All too true, Ross. And, even as Adam Warlock's father-figure, back in the 1970's, he was little more than a highly aloof anti-hero, at best! So, I agree that his being taken down, by the LSP, is very poetic justice.
The only way a sequel might surpass this cover is if he were subsequently tried...by Judge Dredd.
Funny thing -- I was just thinking about Cosmo a couple of days ago, and wondering who he'd be good to team up with. The best I could come up with was Exile (of the Road Rovers), or perhaps letting him join the Dogs of War. This is plenty good, though.
What Carycomic said. The High EV started out as an intriguing character who set up Counter-Earth. He even went toe to toe with Galactus once, (and lost, naturally). I guess the High EV didn't know what he had when he gave an Infinity Stone to Warlock back in the 1970's. No one at Marvel did at the time either! ;) It's a shame in a way, that the MCU cut his connection with Warlock, and portrayed him only as a callous villain.
Yeah, in the issue of Thor in which he was introduced, he didn't seem very sinister. He advanced animals into near-human form, but it was a machine - no surgery and no apparent cruelty.
This is a nice cover with characters from the often overlooked 30th century. I hope more solo characters from the LOSH, Subs & even some solo Wanderers & Lallor Heroes make their debuts &/or returns this year. LONG LIVE THE LEGION (of Super-Pets)!!!

This one has really gone to the Dogs.
ReplyDeleteJust sitting here imagining a last page appearance by the Pet Avengers!

ReplyDeleteHow about Cosmo and the GOTG meet Commander Anubian and the Power Rangers SPD?
DeleteKrypto from Krypton and Comet from magic are gonna have some interesting times today. Simple but VERY effective , Ross!
ReplyDeleteNot to mention Beppo of the Scarlet Jungle and Streaky the Flerken.
Delete@Anon917: don't you mean "Beppo of the Jung-El"?
Delete;-)
Have the noble Space Canine Patrol Agents ever been on a cover, and why the hell not?
ReplyDelete"Big Dog, Big Dog, BOW WOW WOW!" ;)
Maybe Doctor Who will let them out.
DeleteWoof! Woof-woof-woof-woof!

ReplyDeleteJust a thought: High Evolutionary versus The Thundercats?
