Then, Indy will basically be making the same mistake as whoever copied the Necronomicon and donated it to the campus library of Miskatonic University. Do the world a bigger favor, Jones. Let the Book of Nabu remain in the Tower of Fate!
On meeting Kent Nelson, I can just hear Indy saying, "Lord's of Order, Lords of Chaos... That's all myth! Abner Ravencroft tried to pursue them and look what happened to him!
It reminds me of one that was used in the JSA's revival after 'Infinite Crisis', although in that situation it would have been worn by (or, perhaps, "wearing") Hector Hall rather than Kent Nelson and Indy's presence alongside Dr. of Fate implies a date before that changeover... unless, of course, time-travel by at least one of this pair is involved...
Questioning Fate strikes me as a remarkably bad idea; especially at Indy's age. Fate just might decide that Indy's fate is to just up and die of a stroke right this very moment.
No, Anon, you're not the only one who remembers George Hall's portrayal of a one-eyed elderly Indy, though apparently I remember it more fondly than you do.
Not so sure about the Book. Indy is obviously thinking that the Doctor's helmet would fit nicely on a Crystal Skull...

ReplyDeleteI wonder if Doc Savage would have better luck? Confabbing with a colleague, that is.
DeleteNever seen that get-up for Doc Fate before.
ReplyDeleteI suspect that, in the end, Indy will figure out that this artifact really belongs with its original owner.
ReplyDeleteI echo Emsley, though; this outfit of Fate's is a new one on me. It definitely fits the style that we see Indy in here, though.
Maybe it was a costume of the Pierce Brosnan Fate from BLACK ADAM. But, one that edited out of the film's final print.

ReplyDeleteOr, even worse, turn him into an anorexic-looking, nonagenarian version of Nick Fury!
DeleteOr am I the only here old enough to remember "The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles"?

DeleteLet's just say that the WWI-era teenage episodes were more relatable to my collegiate self than the ones where Indy was a Tom Sawyer-ish brat.
DeleteExcellent match up! I'd read this.
ReplyDeleteChris
Smallville was my first live Dr Fate..and, he's even been up on the big screen. Now he's in an "INDY" movie!! How times change!!
ReplyDeleteI believe it's called "keeping up with the Joneses." ;-)
