Superman and Beta Ray Bill
Sure, it's easy to accept a hero from another planet when they have movie star good looks. What if your savior has a face that only a mother could love?
I love that Nick Cardy cover art from the early to mid 70s. It's no exaggeration to say that I might not be a comics reader today if it wasn't for some of Mr. Cardy's compelling Action Comics covers.
Most people might consider that a half-serious rhetorical question, Ross. But, you still raise a valid point. One that DC themselves tried to answer with that now-classic Elseworlds story arc "The Nail." And the food-for-thought that cooked up is just as valid now as it was then!

ReplyDeleteAnd for the sequel? Beta Ray Bill vs. LOBO (the Main Man)!
ReplyDeleteDidn't Bob Greenwade once request a "movie poster" advertising a live-action Lobo flick written and directed by Stephen King (the Maine Man)?
DeleteNo, Beta Ray Bill against Metallo: Korbonite against Corben.
DeleteTentative title: "The Korbonite Maneuver"!
