I'm going to have to see if there are any episodes of Laff-A-Lympics or Wacky Races around to watch. I haven's seen an episode of either since they originally aired, but I remember getting a real kick out of the cartoon crossover show. Maybe the new Me TV Toons channel will play them (if Comcast ever carries it).
How about Captain Caveman trying to steal Ash Ketchum’s pika hi to make a thunderbolt-shooting utility club.
ReplyDeleteAnon 7:21: I meant PIKACHU!
ReplyDeleteI kind of figured that. ;-)
DeleteThey used to be on Boomerang (which Ted Turner created to air the vintage cartoons that Cartoon Network was originally intended for) once Cartoon Network started creating its own original animated series. Unfortunately, Boomerang now mostly shows _reruns_ of those made-for-CN cartoons!
ReplyDeleteThe Rogues and Reverse-Flash joining the Really Rottens? Not a good sign!
ReplyDeleteWhy recruit those rookies when they've already got the Hulk (from STF #4358)?
DeleteBut, let's see now. We have a brainwashed Hulk working for the Really Rottens. The Flash coaching the Yogi Yahooeys. I wonder what the Scooby Doobies will do in order to compensate for both of these unexpected developments. Become Super-friendly with Spider-Morales?
ReplyDeleteConsidering the Scooby Doobies has superheroes on their team (Dynomutt and Captain Caveman are on their team), it wouldn't be hard to call in the HB superheroes.
DeleteAnd Quick Draw McGraw is both a sherrif and masked vigilante El Kabong, close enough to a superhero if Batman and Green Arrow count...
DeleteMy local Comcast hasn't picked up MeTV Toons yet either.
ReplyDeleteDynomutt made it cause you could never be sure what he was going to do. Captain Caveman with a boom-errang could be very interesting.
ReplyDeleteI looked it up for you, Ross. Wacky Races is available for free with a Boomerang subscription, and full episodes are on YouTube. It's also up for purchase on Amazon, Google Play, and Fandango At Home.
ReplyDeleteYou can watch Laff-A-Lympics for free online via tubetv.com with ads
ReplyDeleteDo you mean Tubi?
DeleteYea https://tubitv.com/
ReplyDeleteJeez. What's wrong with plain old YouTube?

Anyhow, I wouldn't have been surprised to see this team up on the racks already!
Speaking of Wacky Races, Peugeot got to use them for a TV spot in Brazil: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FcnsRrXzBC0
ReplyDeleteWhat's Portuguese for "Drat! Drat! And Double-drat!"?
DeleteJust noticed the film strip characters with Flash allies and foes in it. This cover could have been expanded for issue 4600!
ReplyDeleteWe'll find out in 85 days, Glenn. :-)
ReplyDeleteLooking over the dozen Laff covers from the 70s online = Atom 2 or Johnny Thunder 2 & his Thunderbolt would make some good team ups in the future.
ReplyDeleteSome great foes for the HB characters = Uglor & a group of Scooby villains joining as a 4th team.
Marvel foes = Enchantress, Executioner, Graviton, Stilt-Man, Galactus & the Minotaur.
DC foes = Cheetah, Grodd, Giganta, Riddler, Overthrow, Mr. Mxyzptlk, Psycho-Pirate 2, Prankster, Despero, Frogzilla, Catman &/or Catwoman.
Some villain teams as a 4th possible group = The Wrecking Crew, Granny Goodness & her Female Furies, Royal Flush Gang, Demolition Team & A.C.R.O.S.T.I.C. 2 (Dr. Hoot, Feline Faust, Digger O' Doom, Amazoo, Shaggy Dawg & Armordillo).
^ Those foes were suggested after seeing all of the dozen 1970s covers & seeing what you would have to work with as a starting point. For ex. = one cover had a bull so the Daredevil foe Minotaur would made a smart & easy addition.
