Sherlock Holmes actually did show up in a couple of Batman stories, which was pretty cool. An actor playing Holmes had a run in with The Joker in a fun tale as well. Still, the match up I'd be interested to see would be Holmes versus Edward Nigma. Nobody is better at solving riddles than Holmes, and that would challenge the Batman foe like never before.
Careful, Nigma. Holmes is no pushover.
ReplyDeletethis attack will not work as Holmes will see him in the magnifying glasses reflection…
ReplyDeleteexcellent concept, Holmes in the books knows ju-jitsu …
Either this is the Sherlock Holmes from Detective Comics v.1/#572 somehow rejuvenated. Or Professor Nichols' time-regression therapy has uniquely back-fired.
ReplyDeleteThis could be the cover of an actual comic. I don't think it could've been better if you'd used Benedict Cumberbatch and Cory Michael Smith.
ReplyDeleteOn a (distantly) related note, I'm pretty sure we've seen Batman and Wolverine share covers here, but how about in their "twilight years" -- the Dark Knight and Old Man Logan?
And for some reason (probably related to the upcoming Agatha All Along) I have a desire to see Agatha Harkness with Madame Xanadu.
Bob, Dark Knight and Logan met in STF #1809. Agatha Harkness will be showing up very soon.
ReplyDeleteHolmes from a different Earth, or a clone, or a temporary change in age ....Riddler seems unconcerned about who's who ...or ..why!
ReplyDeleteWhat a play this could be.
I see that you've teamed Holmes with more DC characters than Marvel ones.
ReplyDeleteI think you should keep the trend going & have him battle Superman foes Lex Luthor or the Puzzler.
Possible allies with these foes include Captain Caveman's Teen Angels (you just know Lex would hate to be defeated with so many opponents with great hair LOL) & DC's own late 70s/early 80s Answer Man (vs The Puzzler).
You've never mentioned him in anything that I recall & he was such a staple of that era.
RIDDLER: "It would seem that Calendar Man has struck again."
ReplyDeleteHOLMES: "Nonsense! I deduce that Mr. Pearsall is merely over-sleeping again."
RIDDLER: "You mean, he's slept in for _twice_? Astounding, Mr. Holmes!"
HOLMES: "Elementary, my dear Nygma."
RIDDLER (under his breath): "That does it! He's used that phrase once too often."
Picking up on Anon@2:18's thread, there are Marvel possibilities: Holmes vs. Arcade, Holmes and Blade, Holmes and Moon Knight... Holmes could even be called upon to suss out which member of the President's Cabinet is actually Mystique.
ReplyDeletePicking up on Bob Greenwade's thread, you could even have a three-way team-up where Holmes teams up with Gabriel Van Helsing circa 1900. And then, in a backup tale, teaming up with Wolverine in the modern day!
ReplyDeleteIf not doable, I'd gladly settle for the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen vs. Deadpool.
I'm just surprised noone has come up Homes and Gardner.
ReplyDeleteI doubt even the Great Detective could put up with _that_ Guy!
ReplyDeleteWhat? No riddle?
ReplyDeleteAt first glance, I thought this Sherlock was being played by Data from ST: Next Gen!
ReplyDelete@Anon406: well, if you insist...What would happen if Edward Nygma turned out to be a collateral relative of Tom Marvolo Riddle?
ReplyDeleteAnswer: Holmes would try to break up the alliance by posing as "Conan Drumm."
