I'm not sure why The Herculoids home Planet was later renamed Quasar when the property was brought back for new adventures - the former name of Amzot was a more unique and cool choice, in my opinion. A minor nitpick to be sure, I'll never complain much about extra Herculoids episodes!
Another great cover. One question - Might Igoo be considered an almost god-like figure by the apes? He could be the one to bridge this divide.

ReplyDeleteIt occurs to me that the Eleventh Doctor would really get a kick out of Tundro, especially if the big guy let him ride.
I also think it would be interesting to see Zok paired with Swoop (of the Dinobots), especially if there are any other pterodactyl types that we could add to make it a team.

ReplyDeleteAs a kid I never caught the name of the planet until Space Stars so as far I knew Quasar was the right name. I still haven't seen it when I've been able to go back to the Herculoids' original show.

Maybe the reason the apes are up in arms is because they were previously visited by evil Herculoids from the morally inverse parallel world of Tozam!

ReplyDeleteThis has always bugged me: I remember watching The Herculoids on TV in the '60s, and I remember the theme as having lyrics. I even remember a couple of lines from it. But I can't find any clips of it, or anyone else who remembers the theme having words. Maybe it was a commercial bumper, or an early version that was replaced.
ReplyDelete@Bob Buethe The closest I can figure is when they were part of the syndicated anthology Hanna-Barbera's World Of Super Adventure. It was narration rather than lyrics. Even the Toonami airings didn't have lyrics in their intro.

@Carycomic: That would've made Mike Road around age forty-six at the time of the JQ series in 1964. Fourteen years older than Race Bannon's stated age in the episode "Double Danger"!
