For the second part of this two-part tale, we see that Professor X' treatment for Doctor Fate did indeed have some unexpected consequences. Those of you that made the Dr. Strangefate connection were on to something. But hey, if it can lead to cool things like Hourman participating in a fast ball special, can the change be all that bad?
Professor Fate? Ross, is this your first attempt at an STF Amalgam character?
ReplyDeleteIron Beetle came first
ReplyDeleteIn answer to your last question, Ross, I would say it depends on whomever Pete and Rex are employing the Fast Ball Special against. A fitting candidate would be the Sportsmaster.
ReplyDeleteMy second guess would be mass-produced clones of William (the Golden Age Challenger) Waring. Similar to how Golden Age Paul Kirk had hench clones made of him (by Dr. Mykros and the Council).
ReplyDeleteI love the Amalgam comics! Thanks for the tribute Ross. Imagine if they made a live action Dark Claw ...
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see Colossus meet Man O'Metal, from Golden Age Eastern Color Publishing.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see Static and Miles Morales/Spicer-man (from STF #4117) go up against the Condiment King.
ReplyDeleteCrazy coincidence today Bleeding Cool has a story that DC and Marvel have finally agreed to republish the old crossover stories and the Amalgam comics! It's my plate of shrimp!
ReplyDeleteFaster than a metal baseball....More powerful than a discus throw...It's SUPERDARTS!!
ReplyDeleteNot for the faint of heart. And Green Arrow thought he had something special with the Wasp and his arrow. What a competition this sport could be.
IMO I think Hourman II would make a better cover since Hourman retired post save by Android Hourman but it might be harder to find right image.
ReplyDeleteAfter the battle Professor Fate went around the corner to the Texaco Gas station and told the guy Fill it up!Then he ordered enough food for all his crew and they watched super bowel.Just another day in the hero biz.love the energy.
ReplyDeleteInteresting side-note: Professor Fate was also the name of the character played by Jack Lemmon in "The Great Race."
ReplyDelete"...[C]an the change be all that bad?"
ReplyDeleteAsk Rex after he lands.
Oh, and speaking of Iron Beetle....
@Bob Greenwade: he's going to be opening act for the Stone Monkee Pilots.
