Avengers and The Teen Titans in "Mad March of the Mega-Men!"

I've had the Avengers meet The New Teen Titans on the blog - first in STF #1250, and then again in STF #3179, but for this Anniversary Issue, I thought it would be cool if Earth's Mightiest Heroes had an epic adventure with the original Teen Titans team.  With two such powerful teams, I needed to find adversaries that could give them a run for their money, and that's where the classic Kirby monsters come in!

Here are larger images of the individual stories:

  1. Every time I see an anniversary cover, I think, “This might be my favorite,” but I definitely feel that way today. The period similitude, great villains and artwork…. Just super!

  2. I echo Chuck's sentiments. Especially your brilliant use of Dimension X in the title of the Diablo segment. For, if memory serves, that was the setting for a two-part story in the original TEEN TITANS!

  3. I'll re-echo. Just great.
(Plus I always like it when there are earlier links to follow-up - extra treats.)
You've been doing these covers for so long now that I've begun to feel the STF version of comics is the REAL, TRUE comic world. It's somehow taken on so much accumulated reality that the sheer force of story-gravity has compacted it down to be, well, REAL.
Somewhere, just round the corner, there surely is a comics shop with all these title sitting on the shelves...

  4. Haha, maybe around the corner of the Multiverse!

    Thanks, guys!

  5. I love seeing these enlargements of the smaller story panels. The Cap/Robin one is especially nice. Are the names of these creatures from the original appearances, or your own invention?

  6. Bravo, Ross, bravo! Just magnificent. Thanks for the (could-have-been) memories! And I LOVE the enlargements. I can never see large enough versions of your great covers!!!

  7. Cap and Robin haven't got a chance against Xemnu.

  8. Like Dave said up there, this is all starting to get my wires crossed too. For example, I was browsing back issues in my LCS the other day, when I came across the issue of Marvel Two-In-One that I recognized from this blog... And I was confused that Power Girl wasn't the one punching him across the room! She'd somehow been replaced on this cover. Took me longer than it should have to realize it was only ever Power Girl on this blog!

  9. This is so great and rare....just the two teams. Almost like the Mego days of the 70s.
Cap and Robin did work well courtesy of J.B. Thor with Wonder Girl?? Would he be feeling like a dad? But Quicksilver with Kid Flash?? If Wally stays with him, Pietro is going to have some varied feelings over the work date.

    what a way to celebrate.

Shouldn't that have been the Mad March Of the Society of the Mega-Men!

  11. Nah! The Mega-men are definitely anti-social.

  13. Only when I want candy that melts in my mouth rather than my hands.

  14. Speaking of Mega-Men, how about Marvel’s Janus the Mega-Man verses Archie Comics Mega Man?

  15. Another inspired combo! I can just imagine the personality clashes and funny dialog that would result from these pairings.

(I realize you had to draw the line somewhere, but man, a Hawkeye/Speedy team-up would be the snark-fest of the century!)

  16. Ross could even entitle it..."Jumping The Snark!"
