Doctor Doom Vs. The Legion of Doom
This is a match up that I have been meaning to get to for a while now, it was just a matter of finding the right images. That's a pretty powerful Legion line up, but if there's anyone who can give them a challenge, it's Victor Von Doom.
Great artistry, too! Francis Manapul and Rod Reis, huh? I would've sworn this was the handiwork of Dan Brereton and your near-namesake Alex Ross. The images are that life-like.
Grodd, Luthor, Cheetah, and Sinestro? "Powerful line-up" is right! All that's missing would be a formidable, scheming Bat-villain like the Penguin or Ra's al Ghul.
And when it comes to finding the right images, this is also a home run. This cover looks like it was drawn as a single piece. Congratulations on a job extremely well done, Ross! It surely belongs in your Top 10.
And as the writings state it, the spoils go to the Victor! Great bit of story telling.

ReplyDeleteWell done, Mr. Pearsall! :-)
A great match!
ReplyDeleteAnd another idea. Spider-Man and Elliot (Pete's Dragon)
What they all said. :-D

You would think that Lex would give Victor a run for his money, but then you remember Lex likes to hide his misdeeds in the shadows. Not Victor.
ReplyDelete"Who dares?"
"DOOM dares!"
Looks genuine!
ReplyDeleteExcellent rendering! Makes me wonder how these artists might handle Kamandi meeting the elves of ELFQUEST.
ReplyDeleteWhat I think would be interesting would be a meeting of Canada's two more contrasted heroes: Wolverine and Dudley Do-Right.
ReplyDeleteone of the best covers- excellent workmanship
ReplyDeleteI would like to sign up for a free giveaway from Anthony Smith
ReplyDeleteAwesome crossover! Perfect!

You got half your wish, this morning, Bob. ;-)
ReplyDelete@Anon358: sorry, dude! You'll have to shell out sixty cents; same as the rest of us.
ReplyDelete;-D
Doctor Doom is a master of both magic and science so Luthor would have more trouble than some would think.
ReplyDeleteWill part 2 be the Doom Patrol "who also took his name" bailing our the Legion of Doom?
ReplyDeleteThat clash happened in 2014: https://braveandboldlost.blogspot.com/2014/06/dr-doom-conquers-doom-patrol.html
ReplyDeleteIn that case, the only near-namesake he has left to take on is...Doomsday!
ReplyDeleteI’ve always wanted to see a sequel to “Dr. Doom Conquers the Doom Patrol” cover. Imagine Victor sending “Doom’s Patrol” to take on the Fantastic Four.
ReplyDelete@Anon821: which dragon? The animated original voiced by Charlie Callas? Or the CGI version that looks more like a giant chia pet?
ReplyDeleteAlso, there is a Doctor Doom that fought Batman in the 1950’s.
ReplyDeleteNot to mention Mad Doctor Doom from Archie Comics.
ReplyDeleteHow about Cheetah vs. Cheetara from the Thundercats?
