I have read that Kurt Russel was considered for the role of Batman that eventually went to Michael Keaton. While Keaton was great in the role, I bet Russell would have been very cool as the caped crusader. He would have probably performed the different Bruce Wayne and Batman personalities well. We did eventually get to see him in as a superhero in Sky High, but that was a different type of movie.
You mean Sky High was like a Super Hero Barbie?
ReplyDeleteOn the other hand, that would make for a great World's Finest pastiche in a movie poster simulation. Michael Keaton as Batman and Kurt Russell as Capt. Stronghold vs. (just for synchronicity's sake) Danielle Panabaker as Killer Frost!
ReplyDeleteKeaton wasn't just great as Batman; he was iconic. But I think Russell would've been as well.
ReplyDeleteKurt did also get to play a supervillain, in the form of Ego the Living Planet (Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2). That's part of why I keep hoping for an all-Kurt Russell Christmas cover, with Snake leading Santa Claus (another role he played brilliantly) in an "Escape from Ego, the Living Planet"! He could potentially get a bit of help from The Commander, Dexter Riley, and maybe even Jack Burton.
@Tobor: It kind of is that.
@Cary: As I alluded above, Kurt's character in Sky High was The Commander, alias Steve Stronghold. On the other hand, your call of Danielle Panabaker as (pre-reformation) Killer Frost is spot-on.
Commander Stronghold, it is.
