The Atom Vs. The Kingpin

An oddball match up this time around to be sure, but I don't think that Wilson Fisk is the type to back down from any hero.  Ray Palmer's may have incredible abilities, but the Kingpin's resources are vast, there might be a fun battle to witness here.

  1. That re-coloring of Ray's costume is incredible. That blue- reddish black look really kills it as a superhero and spy type. Fisk gets his own way on lots of things but he should have no way to touch Ray unless he traps the phone lines.

  3. AS I recall, Kingpin didn't have too much fun when Spidey took the kid gloves off, during that now-classic prison bout, following the critical wounding of Aunt May by a sniper's bullet. That's when Fisk finally learned that it was not so much his sumo wrestling skills that gave Spidey such a hard time, the first time they fought, mano-a-mano. It was Spidey trying not to become a bigger Nietzschean monster than the one he was fighting!

Nope! Kingpin realized that, without Spidey's sense of moral self-restraint, it would be all too easy for the webslinger to (as David "Chronos" Clinton might put it) clean his clock.

  4. May Parker: "Mr. Fisk? Don't make my nephew angry. You wouldn't like him when he's angry."

  5. "Under my nose"... maybe even literally!

@Anon@8:40: I would love, some time, to see Banner himself (ideally, the MCU version) give someone that warning, in the third person, not with a sense of ominousness but rather with concern and maybe a little fear. ("I'm just saying, if he loses his temper, it's out of my hands. I can't help you out.")

  6. Ross, I'm a little surprised you didn't use the Golden Age Atom here. I know you're a big fan of his, and he seems the type to match up better with Kingpin, being a non-powered, two-fisted type and all. Good work either way, of course!

  7. Al Pratt was too big to fit on the table.

  8. @Ben W: besides which, Al was preoccupied rescuing Thor back at STF #3849.
