The Metal Men are at the top of my list of characters that I want to see in James Gunn's DCU. There had been talk of an animated film in years past, and I always thought that was a good idea. Computer generated special effects have reached a level where I think they could be done well in live action also. Whatever path he takes, I hope Gunn has plans for them.
Personally, I won't hold my breath, pro or con, where James Gunn is concerned. As for your image capture of Ultraman? Not bad! Is is from one of the anime series of the character? Because I remember seeing an episode of the live-action version on a special salute to Japanese TV on Old Channel 9 (then-WWOR), Secaucus, NJ. And I have to confess; the guy in the costume looked more like Bulletman the Human Bullet from the G.I. Joe Adventure Team line of toys!
ReplyDeletecrime syndicate ultraman vs this ultraman please
ReplyDeletethat’s it i want a full run of Metal men drawn by Brian Bolland,
ReplyDeletei have been picking up the Ultraman comics unfortunately the covers are wonderful but interior artwork doesn’t really hit the spot ,
love this matchup though…
I was hoping you'd be talking about Ultraman here. The CGI revival just dropped its third (and ostensibly final) season about a month or two ago, and it's very well done.
ReplyDeleteAnd it'd be worthwhile to see this Ultraman battling his DC Comics namesake.
We need an Ultra-man, of Crime Syndicate of America fame, vs. Ultraman battle.
ReplyDeleteCSA Ultraman would be defeated by Ultraman Zero really fast. It's 20,000 years too early to beat him.
DeleteWell, that's three in favor. So, I guess the motion is "Cary'd"!
ReplyDeleteGreat cover, "live action" Japanese giant Robot vs American sentient elementals. It would be interesting to see some one like Gigantor go up against either Iron Man or DC's Steel.
ReplyDeleteOther mecha that can take on the Sentinels and win:
DeleteMazinger Z, Getter Robo, Kotetsu Jeeg, Gaiking, Combattler V, Voltes V, Daimos, Dancouga, GaoGaiGar, Gurren Lagann, and a massive amount of Gundams.
Is that lava behind everyone? Ultraman has had all kinds of family, even a son..so far.
ReplyDeleteI really like the original Metal Men, even with nameless, but some of the different versions have been much less enjoyable... hope they actually use the originals when they decide to take a chance.
It's a shame it's not the old days, then Ross could have a comic book on so many more tv stars as a comic. Murder She Wrote, Columbo, The Avengers (U.K.), ...etc..a collection of murder solvers. Think of some of the covers that could be done then.
Ross does so much.
Det. Tobor is right. Can you imagine what Ross could have done with the Innovation versions of "Quantum Leap" and Irwin Allen's LIS combined with Acclaim's version of "Sliders" and "Man of the Atom" plus IDW's version of STAR TREK and the Dark Horse version of ALIENS?
ReplyDeleteJust imagine Sam Beckett leaping into the body of Capt. Archer as his Enterprise follows the origin of a distress signal to a certain planet and finds the wreckage of the Jupiter 2. Along with the face-hugged bodies of the Robinson family! Meanwhile, the superheroic Dr. Seleski gets pulled into a wormhole somewhere near San Francisco...and winds up battling Borg-assimilated Kromags.
I still think we need a Face-Hugger War: Alien vs. Starro!
ReplyDeleteOr Armless Tiger Man vs. Arms-Fall-Off Boy.
ReplyDeleteThe above anonymous was NOT me. It was a real robot!
ReplyDeleteA possible crossover I came up with:
ReplyDeleteSuper Smash Bros. & Kamen Rider Ex-Aid!
Can the genius gaming doctor rally every Smash Bros character to fight together? Or will Galeem and Dharkon cause a Game Over to the real world?
Sonic the Hedgehog vs. Speedy Gonzalez?
ReplyDeleteAs part of a 1st anniversary appearance, this coming August, I mean?
