The trailers for the upcoming Secret Invasion Disney+ show definitely show Skrulls with abilities beyond impersonation. Will any of them be Kl'rt, the Super Skrull? It would be odd to introduce him before the Fantastic Four are introduced, since it is their power set that he adopts. Still, perhaps he will show up before he reaches his final form once the FF arrive. The show is only a noth or so away, so we will find out soon enough.
Here's a thought Superskrull vs. the Legion Of Monsters from Marvel Premiere 28. However since it's the same company you can't do it
ReplyDeleteAnother fantastic cover! Great job.
ReplyDeletea male trying to set foot on Paradise island , tut, tut that’s a no, no, it’s the invisible girls powers that will be the real problem for Diana…. - Great Cover…
ReplyDeleteIt's Sue Richards' power of invisibility that probably allowed the Super Skrull to trespass on to the island in the first place. Because I doubt that he can also metamorph hermaphroditically like, say, Mystique or Jonn Jonzz can!
ReplyDeleteSue's force field would be her only problem if he doesn't flame on with Ben's fists.
ReplyDeleteHe may be in for a surprise himself.
I think there will be hints at Super-Skrull in the series. The stretching power is already in evidence, and there may be hints of the strength and toughness that comes from The Thing, but invisibility, force field, and flame powers may take a bit more doing. At that, there may need to be more work done on those first two power sets once Reed and Ben show them how it's done.
ReplyDeletePS: A thought for the Strange Brothers: "Where are we?" "I was hoping you'd know." We kinda had that the last time around,* but I'm hoping for something truly out of left field, like Cynosure, the Bazaar at Deva, or the world of Tron.
*That particular Strange Brothers cover lacks a "The Strange Brothers" tag.
Great - but where's boyfriend Steve Rogers? Or is that who Super Skrull was impersonating?
ReplyDeleteCarycomic- Skrulls have been shown transforming into individuals of the opposite sex since their first appearance. In Fantastic Four #2, a group of four Skrulls, all male, assumed the forms of the FF, including Sue. So, yes, the Super Skrull could easily take on a female form (and, given the degree of shapeshifting skrulls have been shown doing, he'd be able to take on a completely female physical form, I imagine). Whether that would "count" as female or not, I have no idea.
ReplyDeleteFor that matter, the Super Skrull himself took the form of Carol Danvers way back in Avengers #92-93 or so.
ReplyDelete@Alaric: But, has the form ever included the potential functions (like Mystique has canonically proven capable of)? Not to my knowledge!
ReplyDeleteExcellent layout Ross! Super Skrull is another dependable workhorse of the supervillain world. I think he's worked his way up as a Skrull ambassador now? He'd be a good match for Metamorpho.
ReplyDeleteElementally, my dear Roskos. Elementally! ;-)
