Iron Man and Magnus: Robot Fighter

I wonder if these two would get along or not.  Sure, they are both heroes with an interest in technology and robots, but I still sense there might be some friction.  Tony Stark is all about creating mechanical wonders and Magnus' specialty is destroying them, after all.

  1. i thought that the ironman was a bob layton , surprised that it is so close in style,
i think when Magnus finds all those suits of Tony’s that there will be wreckage…

  2. YES!!!!! Exactly what I've been hoping to see for the last four thousand issues. Thank you SO much, Ross!

As for the plot gimmick that would bring these two together? A mistaken identity slugfest wherein Magnus has traveled back in time trying to prevent some calamitous event engineered by...Arno Stark.

  3. what I knew about the Earth-616 Iron Man is clouded over by the Ultimate and MCU versions, and I don't know Magnus' personality at all, but I suspect that they'd end up with a friendship like Green Lantern and Green Arrow back in the day: mutual respect despite differences of perspective.

Speaking of GL/GA, have they appeared as a pair yet on this blog? It might be interesting to drop them someplace random, like the Savage Lands or Cybertron.

  4. GL/GA have appeared on the blog, meeting The Hulk, The Vision, Power Man & Iron Fist on different occasions

  5. Great combo and layout Ross! It would be some battle if Magnus mistook Iron Man for a 'bot. I don't know if that's part of a Russ Manning cover, but I thought he was another unsung hero of comics illustration. And Shellhead's ARC reactor seems to be missing! Hmm... I'm not a robot btw.

  7. How about a meeting between Magnus and Jocasta?

  8. An early issue of Marvel's "Not Brand Ecch" featured "Ironed Man vs. Magnut, Robot Biter." I had never heard of Magnus at that time, so I missed most of the references, but I still thought it was funny.

  9. I could see them teaming up next against Ultron.

  10. Magnum for Magnus. He's had all these styles of robots and androids to go against...now for his greatest challenge.... NANITES...around and in him.
Tony has faced too many beings who don't care for tech. He won't be bothered much.

  11. Yeah, it's hard to find those kinds of pairs when both of the halves appear so frequently. (It seemed to me that they'd teamed up with Power Man and Iron Fist at some point, but I wasn't sure how to find it, at least until about 5 minutes ago.) Still, doing what I said -- dropping them someplace random -- would be fun.

On the topic of Magnus... I think he'd have a great time if dropped into the middle of the Clone Wars.

  12. At first glance, I thought the floating head was of Steve Austin, of 6 million dollar man fame!

  13. Magnus would've made mincemeat of Steve Austin. Both the bionic one and his WWE namesake!

  14. Have you ever pitted Magnus against The Terminator?
