Joe Giella, whose inks are featured in the cover above, passed away last week, and he leaves behind a storied career. I remember seeing his name on the credits of so many of the Marvel and DC tales in my youth, stories that went on to be the building blocks for their entire respective universes. May he rest in peace and with the knowledge that he helped bring so much enjoyment to the fans over the years.
I can only hope it's not the beginning of another wave of "talents" coming to the end of their stories. There has been way too much of that already. Joe was very nice to fans also.
ReplyDeleteThe man was truly a legend. At almost age 95, he was a veteran of both the Golden Age and Silver Age of Comic Books. Working under such giants as Stan Lee and his Distinguished Competitor Julius "Julie" Schwartz.
ReplyDeleteMy deepest condolences to his friends and family. And, as a long-time comics fan, my profoundest gratitude.
This is nearly as dramatic as when Kid Eternity brought back Ben Parker. But unless you want to do without Iris for the foreseeable future*, you'll need to find some way to resurrect her. Sorbo's Hercules or the Winchester brothers might be a good place to start.
ReplyDelete*Granted, stories here don't generally take place in chronological order.
But, which photo-captured actress would Ross use? Candice Paton from The Arrowverse? Or Paula Marshall (from THE FLASH '90)?
ReplyDelete@Anon@12:27: Neither. He'd use art from a comic book, like he usually does.
ReplyDeleteFrom the Department of Weird: Pac-Man vs. Fozzie Bear. Wokka wokka wokka!
ReplyDeleteI'd rather see photo-captures of a live-action Iris. Preferably, Candice Paton. Rowr-rowr!
ReplyDelete@Cary: Candice is quite a looker, to be sure. I'm not sure how Ross could justify putting her on a photo cover, though.
ReplyDeleteA sudden flash of inspiration, perhaps? ;-)
