This is definitely a match up that I would like to see, if only to see Fate open up a can of whoopass on the Skull by the end of the tale.
I am glad to use a Red Skull image hereby the very talented Ron Garney. I was lucky enough to pick up an original page by him several years back:
@Ross: An undeniably great match-up, alright! :-)
ReplyDeleteThe only way it might (repeat: MIGHT) be surpassed is if you could arrange a Nelson family reunion between Dr. Fate and the Golden Age Airboy in battle against Lord Misery.
face to face? hard times ahead.
ReplyDeleteYes! Great set-up Ross. Domination through super-science and mechanical means was always the Red Skull's go-to method. Just to see the cause behind his switch to a mystical approach would be a great prequel. This definitely calls out for a follow-up cover someday.
ReplyDeleteThis is a scary-looking cover that would have me anticipating whatever's going on inside.
ReplyDeleteHas Fate ever crossed paths with Doom? A one-on-one between those two would be quite epic.
Yes, they have met twice on the blog.
ReplyDelete@Bob Greenwade: would Doom meet his Fate? Or would Fate be Doomed?
ReplyDelete@Carycomic, don't worry,either way the DR. is in.
ReplyDelete@Dr. Horsefeatheres: Maybe the Red Skull is after that old Hyborian artifact; the Ring of Harpagus. Since Kulan Gath is now officially Red Sonja's arch-enemy over at Dynamite Entertainment (last I heard), the main antagonist from the "Conan: Lord of Spiders" trilogy could be used by Ross to have Dr. Fate team-up with Spidey!
ReplyDeleteDon't mind me. I'm still yearning for a re-meet of Dr Strange and Dr Mid-Nite.
ReplyDeleteI saw that song "Sitting by the Docs of the bay"
ReplyDelete@Bob Greenwade: that's not Strange at all! Just wait for the Midnite Hour.*
ReplyDelete*That's when it all comes tumblin' down!--Cary
