Magnus: Robot Fighter and Blade Runner
I've been meaning to use Blade Runner for a while, and when Ken Roskos, A Patron of this Blog, suggested I pair him up with Magnus it seemed like a perfect fit. Thanks, Ken! There's definitely plenty of story potential here.
Yes, Mr. Roskos, this is definitely a great and natural pairing. And, so, I echo Ross' thanks. :-)
Of course, how the 41st century Magnus got to 21st century San Francisco is easy to guess. Time travel! But, the "why" is more important. Could the renegade A.I. (known in an alternate time/space continuum as Skynet) have taken over the database of the Tyrell Corporation? Has it developed an army of replicants without the built-in finite lifespan factor? Is Eldon Tyrell, himself, just a blindly obedient replicant?
Perhaps a sequel cover featuring photo captures of Harrison Ford, the former 11th Doctor Who, and the late Joe Turkel (done as a tribute to the latter) will answer these provocative quesitons.
On a lighter note; how about the Pet Avenges vs. the Inferior Five? Or the Pet Avengers meet the Original Avengers (Steed & Peel)? Or even the Original Avengers vs. the Inferior Five?
How about Blade and Blade Runner? Robots and vampires!
Or, along a similar line, Terminator vs. the Walking Dead. The machine apocalypse and the zombie apocalypse happening at the same time! Sarah Conner meets Ash Williams!
Thank you Carycomic and Bob Greenwade! Man, that was just an impulse from # 3900. Maybe Magnus is a descendant from Cap, or some other secret super-soldier development program? Thank you Ross!
@BigMike: why not? Ross has had them fight everyone else but each other. Maybe Degaton could bring Magnus to Detroit during a state visit by a certain Latverian dignitary with a green hoodie? One who's known to use robotic doubles of himself?
Magnus has karate and super strength? Besides Ultron, there is Brainiac. Maybe a 2 for 1 sale. Oh, as a non side thought, for something a little different....Magnus and Robotman. Beauty is in the eye of..... Will Magnus be able to not chop his co-worker? And work with him despite how he feels about "That outer shell"? Robotman may have to find out..

ReplyDeleteNice match-up, Ross and Ken!

Or, failing that, Rudolph and Sonic the Hedgehog save Xmas from Dr. Eggman and the Grinch? Featuring Jim Carrey in a dual role!

ReplyDeleteI'd like to see Magnus vs Robocop sometime
ReplyDeleteMagnus robot fighter versus Dr. Magnus robot builder!

@Carycomic: what are 'quesitons?" Some kind of new particle?
ReplyDelete@Ken Roskos: who do you think Rick Deckard should team up with next; Baymax of Big Hero 6?
@BigMike: why not? Ross has had them fight everyone else but each other. Maybe Degaton could bring Magnus to Detroit during a state visit by a certain Latverian dignitary with a green hoodie? One who's known to use robotic doubles of himself?
ReplyDeleteMagnus also has yet to team up with the X-Men against the Sentinels or any of their other robotic foes.
ReplyDelete@ Anon 1:20 PM: Hmm... Now you have me feeling like the greedy kid visiting Santa. Maybe Deckard would go up against the LMD's from S.H.I.E.L.D.?

I love Quesitons! Can I use that?
ReplyDelete@Anon113: see STF #26(!!!!!).
ReplyDelete@KR: go right ahead! I freely donate it to the Public Domain (which I still think would make for a great secret headquarters name).
ReplyDeleteWas there ever a mash-up between Magnus Robot Fighter and The Terminator?
ReplyDeleteYes, just click on the Magnus Robot Fighter Label to see it
ReplyDeleteHow about Magnus vs. Sunset Bainiac?*
ReplyDelete*SB and Jocasta techno-organically fused by Brainiac using the Phalanx virus.
