It probably should be taken with a grain of salt, but Rosario Dawson has made a few statements lately that indicate both she (as Claire/Night Nurse) and Jon Bernthal (as The Punisher) are set to become part of the MCU proper, most likely in the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again series. I hope it's true, I really like both of those characters on the Netflix shows, and would enjoy seeing them again.
Guess tomorrow's will be duck season, Darkwing Duck maybe?
ReplyDeleteHas Frank been buying his costumes from the same place that made the suit for Adam Warren's Empowered? Looking a little artfully-torn there, Castle.
ReplyDeleteConsidering he's facing a funny animal, he probably bought it from Acme...
Delete@Jack Acid: Now, _that_ would be a great World's Finest pastiche. Darkwing Duck and Capt. Carrot! Jack, you're a genius.
ReplyDelete@Dick McGee: it's probably an upper torso variant of "greater face time" for those MCU-ers who don't wear masks in the first place.
@Ross: maybe Frank thinks the good captain is one of those man-eating Lepis from the GFFA.
Unknown took the words right out of my mouth. :-)
ReplyDeleteJon and Rosario would be very welcome in the MCU, I think, and it'd be great to see them interacting with some of the other street-level MCU characters who weren't on Netflix. Especially interesting would be how Frank Castle and Yelena Belova interact with each other.
ReplyDeleteAs for this cover, it's the kind of incredible incongruity that I love. It has a "DC Meets Loony Tunes" vibe to it.
@Jack: Of course someone else would get to the "Duck Season" gag before I could.
@Unknown: I managed to get Across Crossovers (over on Facebook) to do just that a little over a year ago.
@Unknown: GFFA?
ReplyDeleteGalaxy Far Far Away.
ReplyDeleteThe Lepis are a race of green-skinned anthropomorphic rabbits first introduced in a Magnificent 7 pastiche during the original run of Marvel's STAR WARS comic. The Bugs Bunny-like Jaxxon might've been half-serious when he told one human that his people are meat-eaters!
My money's on the cwazy wabbit--since he does have powers, while the psycho talking ape has no powers, and is not Batman.
ReplyDeleteCapt. Carrot: "For shame, Frank! Hunting wabbits with an elephant gun."
ReplyDeletePunisher: "An ewaafant gun?!"
Capt. Carrot: "Yeah. So, what you have to do is go out and shoot yourself an elephant!"
Curly Joe Besser-phant: "You do and I'll give yous such a pinch!"
WHAM! Punisher is buried up to his hips in the ground while seeing stars.
@Anon@8:52: Good memory for that bit. There are a few nits I'd pick, but the only one worth mentioning is that "Curly Joe" wasn't Joe Besser, but Joe DeRita.
ReplyDeleteThe name was initially created for Joe Besser, but (urban legend has it) he and Columbia parted ways because he considered himself too good to be eye-gouged and face-pied like Moe and Larry. So Joe DeRita was hired on as the sixth and last Stooge. Lasting all the way up through the Cambria Cartoon years of the mid-1960's!
