Firestorm and The Silver Surfer
I enjoyed creating yesterday's all-Kirby cover, so I decided to try another one today. I think that this would be a powerful team up - cosmic power and nuclear power up against an unstoppable, hideous creature... sign me up!
First, "Death-dealer of the Dead Seas." and now "Soul Siphon"?! I've said this before, Ross, but---with your brilliant gift for alliterative villain names--you are criminally under-employed by the professional comic book publishers.
When I saw who was on this cover, I was wondering what your point of discussion would be. I never would've suspected that it was "just because." Well, that's as good of a reason as any!
Cary has a good point, though. If DC and Marvel were to formalize a crossover imprint (Amalgam or otherwise), they could do far worse than to hire you as editor-in-chief or some other sort of creative executive.
Speaking of all-Kirby covers, it seems like DC's Guardian has only really shared covers here with Captain America. I get it, their natural counterparts with the shields and all, but isn't it time to mix it up a smidgen?

What both of the above said. :-)
ReplyDeleteI didn't think Kirby had ever drawn Firestorm, but I recognized the square face style instantly.
ReplyDeleteAnother story that looks fun to read.
WAY TO GO!!!! Another great cover mash with Jack "The King" Kirby, love it!

ReplyDeleteThat Kirby Firestorm was probably from a "Super Powers" mini. I loved his art, by and large, but his Firestorm never worked for me.
ReplyDeleteAnother superb cover. Fantastic team up.
ReplyDelete@PromoRob: I'll take a Kirby Firestorm over a Robbins & Springer Batman, any day.
ReplyDeleteIf you had Kirby's Silver Surfer, Mister Miracle, Captain America, Firestorm, Hulk, and OMAC would you have Jack's Of All Trades?
ReplyDeleteHow about a certain half-Contraxian superhero aiding Sora, Kairi, and Mickey Mouse on their latest quest? I can see it now.
ReplyDelete"Jack of Kingdom Hearts!"
