Presenting the second half of the two-part tale!
Judge Dredd seems like a character that would be perfect for animation, and I am surprised we haven't seen a series or movie in that style for the world famous lawman. I did a search and it looks like there are a few fan made animated shorts out there, I'll have to check them out. There were reports out a year or so ago about an animated Dredd series in development, possibly headed to Netflix, but who knows if anything will come of that, given the fact that they are slashing their animation division and canceling lots of upcoming projects (including Jeff Smith's Bone, grrrr).
Re Neil Adams and George Perez. At the conventions I met them at over the decades, they gave a great deal of themselves for the fans on a tight budget. We have lost far too many greats.
ReplyDeleteRe the Dredd-Hex curse on the bad guys, can't think of a nicer gift to give to mega villains.
@Tobor: Especially if these are going after the notorious Budget Cutters gang.
ReplyDeleteSorry, Ross. I just needed a half-way decent segue. I agree that Judge Dredd would probably make a good animated series. I certainly enjoyed the brief run of SAVAGE DRAGON: TAS (featuring the late great Anthony Jay as the voice of the Vicious Circle's Overlord)!
But, at the risk of sounding like a cynic, I think we stand a better chance of seeing the last two issues of WAR OF THE INDEPENDENTS being mass marketed by Red Anvil _prior_ to publication of a trade paperback reprint.
English translation: not good.
ReplyDeleteJonah Hex was on an episode of Batman: TAS...and on Justice League Action too, I think.
ReplyDeleteOkay, this one I can plainly tell is future Hex.
ReplyDeleteI'd still love to see him with one of Marvel's 2099 heroes, though. Or astride his robot horse, reunited with the original Ghost Rider. (Or maybe on the robot horse alongside Valkyrie and Aragorn?)
I'd still prefer Spidey 2099 (nee Miguel O'Hara) team up with Batman' 66 to save Chief O'Hara from assassination.
ReplyDeleteI fully support Cary's suggestion.
ReplyDeleteAnd I third it! :-)
