Man-Bat Joins The Sinister Six

Spider-Man: No Way Home kind of gave us a Sinister Six story but not really.  I guess if you count the mid-credit scene there were six Spidey villains in the mix - or if you count J. Jonah Jameson as a villain.  Still, hopefully one day down the line we'll see a true sinister six adventure on the big screen.

I was happy to use a Don Newton image of Man-Bat here.  I was lucky enough to pick up an original  Don Newton page many years back:

  1. Considering the number of times Morbius has had a run-in with Man-bat, you would have thought he'd warn his team about him!! :-)

Is Man-Bat's theme 'Fly me to the Moon'? Maybe MB could become a country singer.

  3. The only time JJJ was a legit villain is when his mind telemetrically piloted that Spider-Slayer prototype invented by Dr. Smythe, Sr. The rest of the time, he's worse than a villain to Spidey. He's an egocentric hypocrite!

  4. When I saw the title of this, I wondered at the word "joins," since you've generally been using Man-Bat in his heroic phase. But now that I see the cover, it makes perfect sense. And the layover on the art is just right, too. That's another job well done, Ross!

As for the cinematic Sinister Six, NWH was just a tease for it. Sony is planning to create a Sinister Six, and even give them their own movie, though Spider-Man may or may not be a part of it. (There are rumors that he will -- but played by Andrew Garfield! I think those are probably just rumors, though.)

  5. Speaking of Jameson, I really want to see him crusading against comics' greatest menace... DENNIS!

  6. @Reg Aubry: maybe Morbius thought Langstrom was James "Batwing" Santini, all grown up.

  7. I second Big Mike's suggestion of Jonah Jameson vs. Dennis the Menace. (Normally I'd favor the Warners, Ross, but I know you're not an Animaniacs fan.)

  8. ahhh but by Dennis the Menace do you mean the American blonde haired Hank Ketchum version or the dark haired British version????
    (enquiring minds want to know....)

  9. Don Newton (RIP) was a great underrated Batman artist, between he and Gene Colan, the early 80s Batman titles had some great moody art. Too bad they didn't have longer runs,
