Fin Fang Foom Vs. Mr. Miracle & Big Barda

DC seems to be having some trouble adapting The New Gods to the big screen.  Zach Snyder introduced elements in his Justice League movie, but Warner Bros does not seem to want to move forward with his vision.  They also cancelled Ava DuVernay's New Gods movie that was in development, and are most likely not encouraged by the muted reactions to Marvels similar Eternals.  I've got the perfect solution - go with a New Gods animated series first!  That will give the property the proper length to tell an expansive story that features such a large cast of characters.  If it's a hit, audiences will be primed to se a live action version as a follow up.

  1. Sold! Can't wait to start reading this!
Finfang looks as if he's about to receive the punch of his life. And likely need some expensive dental work.

  2. Eternals was, in my opinion, quite good, paling in comparison to some of the better Marvel offerings -- notably Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and Spider-Man: No Way Home -- but, on its own, hardly an embarrassment, and worthy of a sequel.

That seems to be the difference between Marvel Pictures and DC's movie department. Marvel knows how to take risks that can pay off: a movie about an obscure superhero starring an actor in his first movie is being hailed as one of the year's best, while another, a sequel with no significant newly-cast characters, is shattering pandemic-era records. On the other hand, Warner Brothers is more interested in copying Marvel's successes than in making successes of their own, and what they do have in their own successes are done only with short-term vision (and, not incidentally, no regard for when a certain actress becomes a multi-million dollar liability).

  3. I guess we'll have to agree to permanently disagree, Bob. The only new MCU release that I found to be even worse than "Eternals" is "Venom: Let There Be Carnage!"

  4. Minor digression, Ross. Have you ever considered doing a cover featuring "Konga vs. Gorgo?" There must be plenty of Charlton Comic images of both of them, somewhere!

  5. @Anonymous1157: if Ross could make it resemble a live-action photo capture, why not?

  6. Or an amalgam of Fin Fang Foom and Dr. Druid as...Dr. Droom!
