I saw this combination discussed on a recent comment section and it stuck with me. Victor Von Doom would be a worthy foil for Kirk and crew. And of course there was one particular episode of the original series that seems like it would make for a perfect launching point for such a tale.
Yes-yes-yes-yes-YES! I couldn't ask for a better early Xmas present!
ReplyDeleteAnd you are so right. Before this point, I had always thought the "Doomsday Machine" episode would make a good premise for a Star Trek/Star Wars crossover. After all; who else but Darth Palpatine had a jones for huge weapons of mass destruction?
In hindsight, of course, the answer is obvious. Dr. Doom! That's who.
I can't wait to see what you have on tap for tomorrow, Ross. And, thanks again for this. :-)
Yep, this works on so many levels. Unlike most, Doom has been involved with time travel situations - since his debut with the time platform. He's been ahead of Lex L. in this use of 'research material'. Take on the 23rd century? 50-50 chance.
ReplyDeleteOf course, that doesn't mean he knows everything they do. Maybe not 50-50 at all.
Ross is the creator and he's not even a computer. Beautiful.
Yep. The Doomsday Machine, even if only by virtue of its name, does seem like it could be Victor's handiwork. Only his motivation for doing it would seem unclear, since it's a planet-buster; perhaps it was a commission from Palpatine?
ReplyDeleteI've been binging Big Hero 6: The Series lately, and somehow I'd thought that they'd been on this blog once, though I can't find them on the index. I keep thinking that they'd be fun to pair up with Iron Man or the Young Avengers. Mostly, though, I'm loving their foe-turned-friend Globby, who would be a good fit with Metamorpho (because of similar powers) or Batman (because Globby's such a goofball and klutz).
I also wish I'd thought earlier to suggest teaming up the show's Boss Awesome with Forbrush Man, as a tribute to Stan Lee on his birthday (28 Dec). But maybe Boss Awesome could be paired with Diaper Man on New Year's.
Bob, Baymax (and Hiro) has appeared twice.
ReplyDeleteOh, yes, Ross! This cover is amazing, and the idea of the story that would be within this comic is something that would be fun to read. I confess my own bias being a devout Trekkie and given that Doom is my favorite villain across the publications and universes.
ReplyDeleteAh, just the two of them. I was looking for the whole team. I'd love to see them show up somehow, or other individual members of the team (both the comics and animated versions) in various like-powered collections.
ReplyDeleteOh tis tosh. Do it do it right. Doom vs Q. ( Rules? What are "rules"?)
ReplyDeleteAnd don't forget to use the lemon air spray when Darkseid vs the Improbables.
ReplyDeleteIs this the Hanna-Barbera version of Dr. Doom from the 1967 FF cartoon?
ReplyDeleteNo, it's by Wally Wood from Astonishing Tales.
ReplyDeleteNot 2-B confused with "Tales To Astonish!"
