Thanks to Tom Brennan, a Patron of this Blog, for suggesting this match up! I had been meaning to use the Sentry again, and Captain Marvel is certainly more than a suitable adversary for him.
I am always glad to use artwork by the amazing Jerry Ordway. I was lucky enough to pick up a couple of pages by him several years back (inks by Mark McKenna and Paul Ryan):
Suitably awesome, Ross. :-)
ReplyDeleteIn fact, it almost resembles the artwork of your surname-sake! The one who recently did all that cover art for Dynamite's "Project: Super Powers" imprint. Which kind of makes me wonder...how would you and/or he depict the Void (Sentry's alter-ego) vs. the Void (Wildstorm)?
Intriguing artwork! What was the title of the story Mr. Ordway did it for; "Santa Claus Conquers The Skrulls?"
ReplyDeleteI only ask because it looks to be set in Canada at Xmas time. :-)
ReplyDeleteIt's from the Maximum Security mini-series.
ReplyDeleteI like this. And I also like that you have the REAL Captain Marvel!! Just hope you don't get sued.
ReplyDeleteI don't know a thing about Sentry, but I wonder if you've considered teaming him up with Sentinel (Alan Scott), just based on the overlap in their names?
ReplyDelete@Dr. OTR: he's a Superman analog first introduced during the "Army of Darkness vs. Marvel Zombies" crossover mini-series, with Dynamite Entertainment, about fifteen-or-so years back. He proved so popular that Marvel has expanded on him! Giving him a Bouncing Boy-like origin (obtained his super-powers from experimental soda pop) and an alter-ego (a la Two-Face) called The Void.
ReplyDeleteWell, anyway, that's my interpretation ("and I'm stickin' to it").
ReplyDelete@Anonymous: The Sentry first appeared in The Sentry #1 in July/September 2000, 7 years before "Army of Darkness vs. Marvel Zombies.”
ReplyDeleteMust not have sold too many issues, then. Because I never even knew he existed prior AODv.MZ #1!
ReplyDeleteCover of the month!
ReplyDeleteIndeed, it makes me wonder if we'll ever be blessed with Marvel Zombie Sentry vs. the Fairchilds (Fairchildren?); Evil Ernie and Caitlin?
