Star Sapphire Vs. Doctor Spectrum (Part Two)

Continuing yesterday's battle, it looks like Carol Ferris has the upper hand.  I still hope to see the Squadron Supreme appear in the MCU some day.  I loved their arc on the animated Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes and it would be even cooler to see them in live action.  Thanks again to Blog Patron Ken Roskos for suggesting this match up.

  1. I never expected this. I mean, not even the original MARVEL TEAM-UP ever gave me the same co-star two issues in a row!*

Oh, well. Maybe the not-so-good doctor will learn to enjoy serving at Star Sapphire's feet. Thor certainly seemed to, back in STF #834! And, with legs like hers, I probably would've surrendered without firing an energy blast. ;-)

Thanks, Ross, for giving us such visual pleasure.

*Look at how many guest-stars Spidey wound up with during that Cotton Mather/Dark Rider story arc.

  2. I hate to be pessimistic, Ross. But, the likelihood is greater that you'll first do a cover featuring Jonn Jonzz vs. Jack Skellingon entitled "Sandy Claws Conquers The Martian!"

I really want to see that!

  4. Well, we've now had the first Marvel name-drop of a DC character in Eternals (finally reciprocating how Marvel Easter eggs drop like flies in the Arrowverse), and the multiverse is opening up, so we very well might eventually see the Squadron Supreme in the MCU. (I think we probably will see the Exiles first, though.)

  6. @Bob Greenwade: What DC character?

  7. @Anonymous: Superman...who, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is probably considered just a fictional character. Similar to how the Golden Age Flash was initially considered just a comic book character by Barry Allen in the Early Silver Age.

  8. @Anon@12:06: Cary's correct. Phastos' (adopted) son's comparison of Ikarus to Superman is even in the trailers. (Responds Ikarus: "I don't wear a cape.")

  9. PS: There's also a Batman Easter egg elsewhere in the movie, for those paying attention.

  10. Cool cover Ross. Here’s an idea for a future cover, Damage vs Damage Control!

If Star is using Spectrum as a power source is he AC or DC? How about Star Sapphire meeting Power Princess?

  12. He's DC, of course. If he were being humiliated by FemForce, he'd be AC!

  13. I've been hoping for the Squadron (either Sinister or Supreme) to show up in the Avengers since the 1st movie came out, though figured Kang/Immortus then the Masters of Evil or would show up first. And now with the how Multiverse focus its even more likely.

What would make it a real winner (icing on the cake) would be if actors who played the DC counterparts would play their Squadron analogs. And a few good choices for the most iconic ones. The actor who played Zoom being Whizzer, Ryan Renolds as Doc (poking fun at his GL movie along the way, natch). The lady from the Wonder Woman pilot = Princess Power, the Smallville Aquaman = Amphibian, Shanks = Cap'n Hawk. Dinklage = Tom Thumb. And the Smallville GA as Golden Archer. As for Hyperion & Knight Hawk, they've been plaid by so many who are still able to pull it off that the sky's the limit. Just so long as Hype stays a redhead. I mean, how many redheads does comics need to loose in live-action translation before it become an actual conspiracy (I'm looking at all of you, non-freckled Jimmy Olsens!)

    *everything else, lol

  15. DSD: By the Wonder Woman pilot, I assume you mean Adrienne Palicki?

Personally, though, I think it'd be fun to have a brief SS cameo with Arrowverse actors playing their counterparts. It'd have to leave out some of the top characters, of course, but that's part of why it'd have to be just a cameo. The still gives us at least Tyler Hoechlin, Grant Gustin, Stephen Amell, David Harewood, Juliana Harkavy, Brandon Routh, Franz Drameh, and possibly Warren Christie, which makes for a pretty respectable lineup. (And hopefully Tyler wouldn't mind wearing a wig and fake eyebrows!)

  16. On a lighter note; how about Hyperion and Dr. Spectrum vs. Supernova (Booster Gold version)?
