The second season of Stargirl started out a little slowly, but finished off strong. I was especially impressed with how well realized Eclipso was, both visually and how he was utilized as a season-long menace. It definitely seemed like the show's budget may have been trimmed from the first season to the second, but Eclipso's sequences were always done well. The post credits scene featuring a popular Infinity Inc. character showing up was cool too, and suggests interesting possibilities for Season Three.
it was pretty awesome
ReplyDeleteI'm permanently disappointed with how CW's dealt with all their superhero shows. I'm dropping it from my local cable TV package.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous: Having just seen the series finale of SUPERGIRL, last night, I reluctantly have to agree with you. It was definitely anti-climactic!
ReplyDelete@Ross: Will this trio be turning to Moon Knight and the Elongated Man for help?
id love to see female dr light and lightray the ray and binary or firestar finish off eclipso
ReplyDeleteHave Stargirl and Starlight from The Boys teamed up yet? Live action photo cover or comic characters would be cool!
ReplyDeleteEclipso has long been a favorite villain of mine. Good to see him done justice in a live action format.
ReplyDelete@Carycomic, saw the "adaption" of Superman revealing his secret id to the world. "Dumb" still comes to mind. Kara's dad was murdered by Lex's lackey and later when Lena wiped out his knowledge of who Supergirl is, he would forget it. Talk about getting away with murder! Intergang is still around, and Kara is not on Earth -38 any more. Her mom now has a nice brightly lit target on her back. Superman wasn't invited to the wedding?
ReplyDeleteAnd Cat Grant knew who Kara was as soon as Supergirl became known about. She did the same with Barry Allen after Flash saved Kara in her fall.
Wonder if a new generation Joker would go after the Catco crew like he did in Injustice?
Ross, sorry if your cover was "eclipsed" by how the end of the Supergirl series was mishandled. The cover would be a great splash page too.
I agree with you on this season of Stargirl, Ross. I can't think of anything that the producers could have done differently to make it better, though, and I found Rick's character arc to be the most engaging. My main disappointment was that Henry Thomas didn't continue in his role as Charles McNider; it would've been great to see him in this more fully-realized portrayal of the character. On the other hand, I'm looking forward to seeing Beth finally don the yellow-and-black outfit from the comics... and how she deals with her parents suddenly going from distant to smothering.
ReplyDelete@Cary: Thank you for not spoiling the episode for me; I won't get to watch it until tomorrow or Friday. Too bad Tobor undid your consideration.
PS: After deciphering the filmsandvidgames comment above, I started to wonder if Dr. Light and Photon had ever teamed up outside their appearances as part of the Light Brigade. They did, in fact, way back in #315. Still, it'd be a nice pairing to revisit some time, especially as The Marvels approaches.
ReplyDelete@Bob Greenwade: not to worry. His "synopsis" was more like the gibberish used by the IRS to explain "simplified" tax return instructions.
ReplyDeleteJust imagine all the possibilities for Nightwing in Marvel's NYC.
ReplyDeleteWith all of the Batman/Spider-Man cross-company team-ups, I've always felt that a Dick Grayson and Peter Parker pairing would have been far more fun.
Idea based on a mis-heard question for Alexa:
ReplyDeleteHan Solo and Grendel.
Grendle Prime; or a slight tweaking of the Hunter Rose version?
ReplyDelete@Carycomic: I'd prefer a combination of the two, myself.
ReplyDelete@ob Greenwade & Anonymous959: then, why not mass-produced clones of the Hunter Rose Grendel?
ReplyDeleteI could go either way on that. (The name's the point of the exercise.)
ReplyDeleteIn that case; how about the Hunter Rose edition of Grendel vs. Deadpool and Venom? And, for the same (ahem!) colorful reason that Luthor once fought the Green Goblin.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous: at least make it easier on poor Ross! Make it "Grendel vs. Venom(ized Dead)pool!"
