This was a team up that I hadn't considered before but once I started to put together, began to really to make sense. Luther Manning fits right in with the world of Star Wars.
I am always happy to use an image by the amazing Dave Cockrum. I was lucky enough to pick up a couple of pieces by him several years ago:
Too bad you couldn't have included a certain other cyborg from Marvel's original STAR WARS period. You could've entitled it...
ReplyDelete"The Men Who Shot Beilert Valance!"
What you and Deathlok himself say is quite true: aside from his visual appearance, he fits right in with Star Wars, most of all in the Rebellion period. (As would, I think, the Guardians of the Galaxy; has that been done yet?)
ReplyDeleteAh, yes, the non-conflicted uncomplicated best-there-is Wolverine. That's a sweet pinup, Ross.
ReplyDeleteThis one is quite fitting, as the first time I encountered Deathlok was as a backup strip in Marvel UK's Star Wars Weekly!
ReplyDeleteGood old Dave Cockrum! As Bob McLeod (of the Clan McLeod) might say:
ReplyDelete"There can be only one."
"HERE WE ARE! BORN 2-B KINGS..."
It could be Deathlock vs Dark Vader - cyborg vs cyborg.
ReplyDeleteOr Deathlok (mind-controlled by Megavolt) vs. Roboduck?
