It's too bad plans for a 4th Star Trek movie with the new crew fell apart. The rumored plot had Chris Hemsworth returning as Kirk's father in a time travel tale, which sounds like it could have been a lot of fun. Reportedly, actor's salaries and schedules got in the way, not to mention the tragic passing of a cast member and script disagreements. There may be a chance that the project starts up again, but I think maybe that starship has sailed.
Adam shared and animated adventure with the crew of The Enterprise in STF #2056...
They just made a new announcement about the next Star Trek movie yesterday. https://deadline.com/2021/07/star-trek-film-director-wandavision-matt-shakman-1234792438/
ReplyDeleteChekov could be replaced with Lt Arex from the animated series.
Hopefully they can work in a cameo by Shatner as the original universe Kirk. I don't mind if they undo his death in Generations using whatever sci-fi explanation they have to use.
Wow! I could totally see this as a mini-series! Like The Modala Imperative...
ReplyDeleteI am a Star Trek fan. I enjoyed the new Star Trek films. However, I'm still not sure about some parts of "Into Darkness" and "Beyond". I've watched them a bunch of times. More and more I'm becoming less and less a fan of J. J. Abrams. Other than the original Wrath of Khan, my favorite Star Trek is The Undiscovered Country - not a lot of breakneck action like these new stories, but a smart story...
Actually, that starship sailed when the Klingons of STAR TREK: THE WRATH OF RET-CON were turned into lobster-red rip-offs of the space lizards from V: THE ORIGINAL SERIES!
ReplyDeleteThe third film in the reboot trilogy was a little better by comparison. Although, the character of Jaylah resembled a female version of every paperback cover illustration I've ever seen of the Yuuzhan Vong from STAR WARS Legends.
Damn it Jim. I'm a doctor not an undertaker.
ReplyDeleteThey went from fighting Thanagar to fighting with the Romulans. They RANN everything into the ground with their wars.
By wild coincidence, this post comes at the same time as I (like cavemouse above) see news that Matt Shakman (the Emmy-nominated director of WandaVision) has been signed on to helm the new Star Trek film. As it's from JJ Abrams' Bad Robot Productions, we can be pretty confident that it'll feature the alt-timeline crew. However, my cameo of choice would be Walter Koenig.
ReplyDeleteAs for this cover... I'm sure Adam's brother Stephen will show up to get things sorted out -- especially if someone like Mordru or Darkseid is involved here.
I can't recall you doing anything with the entire Voyager crew.
ReplyDeleteLynda Carter & the woman from Buck Rogers were both considered for Capt. Janeway at one point.
I heard the Lindsay Wagner was also up for the role or auditioned for it.
@My Fellow Anonymous: I believe the actress you're referring to is Erin Gray as "Col. Wilma Deering." Nowadays, a TV commercial spokesperson for Intergalactic Express Travelers' Checks.

Has there ever been a crossover with Star Trek and Lost in Space?

ReplyDelete@Powerbottom: sort of. Back in the 1980's, Bill Mumy, himself, wrote a story for the DC-licensed comic book version of STAR TREK centered around a Robinson-like family of spacefarers called The Worthy.
ReplyDeleteI got a kick out of their robot calling the Prime Directive "illogical." :-)
Would McCoy look like that if Adam really is dead? probably not. Final victim? Perhaps, but doesn't mean he couldn't be revived by their tech.
ReplyDeleteLike Kaminoan cloning?
ReplyDeleteMore likely, a Bynar modification of Borg tech. Come to think of it; didn't Wm. Shatner already use that plot device in some of his STAR TREK novels?
ReplyDeleteFace down in the pistachios too. What a way to go.
ReplyDelete@Anon: I know. Just plain nuts, right?
ReplyDeleteThe only thing nuttier would be a sequel teaming Dr. Strange with a time-traveling Haunted Tank.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous: throw in STF #2487, it could be a trilogy.
