This cover serves as a sequel to STF #1774, when these two first crossed paths. I can imagine Jim Corrigan finding a kinship with the savage yet heroic Logan. It's a little harder to imagine what Wolverine actually as the Spectre would be like, but it would be fun to find out!
I am always happy to include the artwork of the amazing Art Adams. I was able to purchase this cool Dr. Doom sketch of his many years ago:
It would definitely be a lot more fun than Dr. Doom getting the power of The Spectre!
ReplyDeleteIt's bad enough they share the same taste in verdant head gear.
Great cover, Ross. And great Doom piece from Adams.
ReplyDeleteJames Howlett as the Spectre? I could see it now, with Wolvie recolored for this tale's third installment: "Get ready for God's vengeance, Bub!" *SNIKT*
ReplyDeleteActually, with Spectre being the Spirit of Vengeance, maybe he could empower Inigo Montoya.
Or taking another angle, what if Lobo were to become Ghost Rider?
Oh, whatever. Great cover, Ross.
"What if Lobo were to become Ghost Rider?"
ReplyDeleteRoss Forbid ! :-O
Lobo more likely would be Coast Rider.
ReplyDeleteif Wolvie is the best there is at what he does, if he becomes the Spectre, is that a step backwards?
Wow, scary concept! Wolverine as the embodiment of God's wrath. The supervillains would be wiped out! Also all gangs, and evil dictators! The United Nations organization would take a huge hit, too. Stop sex traffickers. Drug lords. Wow! Criminals would be repenting and turning themselves in as fast as they could!
ReplyDeleteI may have gotten a little carried away. Sorry

No problem, Ord. I'm still hoping the 21st century Toho (Cinematic Uni)verse can include a big-budget realization of Willis O'Brien's original dream. KING KONG VS. FRANKENSTEIN!
ReplyDeleteI can see it, now. The great-great grandson of Dr. Frankenstein reanimates a dead American marine for the Imperial Japanese Army, then gigantizes him using a substance he calls "Essen der Gotten (Food of the Gods)." So, Uncle Sam retaliates by having the granddaughter of Dr. Jekyll reanimate Kong's body using the blood of Count Dracula!
Maybe... Kong vs. (the Japanese) Ultraman?
ReplyDeleteTo see Norman McCay give his recount of Kingdom Come to Karl Kolchak, or some other famous reporter who delved into the occult or paranormal would still be awesome!
ReplyDeleteHow about Spidey '77 and Carl Kolchak team up with Andrew Bennett against the Blood-Red Moon?*
ReplyDelete*Using photo-captures of Nicholas Hammond, Darren McGavin, Richard Lynch (from "Vampire 1979") and Barbara Stock ("I, Desire" 1982).
Aw, heck... why not Batman '66 and Star Trek? (Kirk & Co. did have a few adventures on 20th-century Earth.)
ReplyDeleteActually, that's not a bad idea! Jim, Spock, and McCoy could use the Guardian of Forever to visit Gotham City in 1966 to prevent the death of Amanda Grayson's earliest known ancestor: Bruce Wayne's youthful ward, Dick Grayson.
ReplyDeleteYeah, but who would be the Chief Bad Guys? Mr. Spock's half-Romulan love child from that brief liaison with Joanna Linville's character from "The Enterprise Incident," perhaps. Or maybe Khan Noonein Singh and Catwoman. Or maybe even the Joker, Squire Trelane and...The Time Trapper!
Ross could use a photo-capture of the Christmas Future Ghost, from Bill Murray's SCROOGED, for that one.
I'd tend to favor just the Time Trapper. Or maybe it's a sinister Dalek plot, orchestrated by Davros!
ReplyDeleteNot bad! That way, Ross could call it "Bedside Manor."
ReplyDeleteAs in, The Doctor is making a house call on that stately home?
I'm just laffing my tale off with the idea of Dracula giving blood. What an oxymoronic picture.
ReplyDeleteNot if he was brainwashed by Dr. Jacqueline Hyde.
ReplyDelete;-D
"Jacqueline Hyde." LOL! Good pun/yes, cookie.
