OK, this was a suggestion from either a blog Patron or a visitor in the comments, but I forget who! So if it was you, speak up and thanks for the inspiration!
UPDATE! Thank you to David Clerici for the idea for this this clever match up!
Speaking of inspirations, one of the greatest in the comics world is legendary artist Ramona Fradon. at 94 years old, she is still creating amazing artwork today. I was very fortunate to get an original piece from her many years back:
Coming tomorrow: STF #3300!
Nice one. Now if you could use the original Paste Pot Pete.
ReplyDeleteWhat would happen if Plas wore a stretchable teflon shield?
ReplyDeleteRF does great work. Loved it since her Aquaman in Adventure days.
Care to try Plas vs Dracula? Love to see Drac down for the Count.
ReplyDeleteAs tonight is the Academy Awards, I was half-expecting something involving Oscar (The Grouch). Lol!
ReplyDeleteRamona used a legitimately mad scientist. Wonder how she designed his machine? The book, "Criminal Hardware Made Easy", was a best seller that year.
ReplyDeletePlastic Man was ok, but for a wicked encounter? Have Eel vs the Puppet Master. What would give first- Plastic or Clay?
Your Ramona piece looks like it belongs with mine. Take a look!

FWIW, here’s my other one. It features Plas and S&S.

ReplyDeleteGreat Pieces! And, yeah, it looks like she used the same bad guy!
ReplyDeleteRoss could you do a cover where Harley Quinn becomes Phoenix?
ReplyDeleteThe title is so perfect, I have to tip my hat to whomever came up with this combo. It makes me wish I could think of someone who could turn Circe's magic against herself to protect Pee-Wee Herman in "I Know You Are, But What Am I?"
ReplyDeleteThe choice of poses is a fun one, too. Plas has this great "Uh-oh" expression, leaving one to question what the outcome of this specific moment will be. I'd certainly be interested in reading the story!
The mad scientist figure reminds me of both "Spider" Spry (from Archie Comics "Mighty Crusaders") and Generalissimo Brainstorm (from Harvey Comics "Pirana"). Both of whom were classic over-the-top Bad Guys during the Silver Age!
ReplyDeleteWhy is Metamorpho fighting Jaime Hyneman?
ReplyDeleteNice one, Dave C!
ReplyDeleteWell now, .....wish I could think of someone who could turn Circe's magic against herself to protect Pee-Wee Herman in "I Know You Are, But What Am I?"
ReplyDeleteLadies and Gentlemen, I nominate Mystique looking like Pee-Wee. Circe is casting her spell and Mystique partially changes to keep her confused. Knocks her out keeping her own identity in the dark. Nice one Mr. G.!
Ms.Tree needs to meet Jon Sable, Freelance
ReplyDeletealong with the human target. A gum-shoe con.
ReplyDelete@Alec Semicognito: Mr. Cockrum was here?! Where? Where?
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of the Human Target, I think it might make for an interesting cover (next year's April Fool's project, perhaps?) of him vs. Mystique, using a mostly-generic crowd scene that also includes Carmen Sandiego and Waldo. Add in any other masters of disguise and/or camouflage (such as Chameleon from the animated The Tick, Darkman, or Gellert Grindelwald -- maybe even an Autobot) at leisure.
ReplyDeleteOr, even better, Wonder Woman and the Golden Age Robotman meet the Autobots on "Transformer Island!"
ReplyDelete@BG- Don't forget Nemesis, Batman, and The Chameleon, a Skrull, & Space Phantom.
ReplyDeleteTag line on top of shot of convention hucksters room :
"One of these people isn't who they claim to be!"
"Oh, one of these people doesn't belong.
ReplyDeleteOne of these people...ain't like the others!"
@Tobor: And Mystique. And Agent Zero (from the 1990s Get Smart revival). And perhaps Kamelion (from Doctor Who).
ReplyDeleteNot to mention, X the Phantom Fed!
ReplyDelete"X the Phantom Fed?"
SLAP!
"OW!"
"I told you not to mention him."
One of these gum shoes is going to get the boot.
ReplyDeleteHey! That's an idea. A photo-capture of Lee Meriwether (from the "Batman '66" feature film) helping Reb Brown (Captain America '78) steal a salvaged U-boat from the Russian navy. That way, ross could entitle it...
ReplyDelete"Pussycat n' Das Boot!"
@Anon136: *GROOOOOOOOOOOOOOAN!*
