Continued from yesterday's cover, we see that The Flash isn't the only one that has gained attention for his time warping ways. Visitors to this page, like Blog Patron Bob Greenwade, have suggested that Kang run afoul of The Time Trapper, and I have to agree that would make for an epic battle. Maybe together they can make some sense of DC Continuity!
I stopped following DC Comics shortly after they brought out the New 52, but my understanding is that Wally West, wielding the power of Dr. Manhattan, in Metron's Moebius Chair, is about to try to make sense of DC's continuity. I suspect it will be another muddled reboot, but I wish him the best of luck. Maybe if he employs Kang and the Time Tapper, he'll get it right this time.
ReplyDeletewish dc would bring back the pre crisis earth 2 superman he was my favorite....as were all the jsa batman too!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh, man! Bob Greenwade must be doing back flips worthy of Simone Biles over today's cover.
ReplyDeleteI, too, am glad you brought him back Ross. DC tried to replace him with identically garbed posers like Skyhook (the bat-winged pedophile) and Rev. Darrk (from Stan Lee's "Just Imagine" stories). But, the Silver Age Time Trapper is still the best. If only for the never-solved mystery of what that hooded face truly looks like!
Wasn't The Time Trapper revealed to be a future version of Cosmic Boy? I thought I read that somewhere.
ReplyDeleteFor those too young to remember: Cary's referring to a Superman foe who debuted during the True Bronze Age (the first 20 years after the original COIE).
ReplyDelete@Ross: not definitively. To paraphrase Brainiac 5, his true identity seems to be as fluid as time, itself.
ReplyDeleteBOO-YAH! May this be an ongoing war here in the STFU!
ReplyDelete@Cary: Internally, yes. Externally, I'm mainly limited to fist-pumping and a little bit of boogie.
@Bob: Super-lol!
ReplyDelete@Ross: English translation? Any revelation of TT's "true" identity is only as "permanent" as the person currently employed as LSH head writer.
In addition to the Older Cosmic Boy, the Trapper was also revealed at one time to be a "Controller". Interested in learning more? http://legionofsuperbloggers.blogspot.com/2017/01/whos-who-time-trapper.html
ReplyDeleteDid you read the one where Batman told Superman he met 3 different versions of the Legion? Before the new 52 I Think. If Bruce can remember the diff why couldn't Clark? The Time Trapper?? ( I was stunned to see DC actually use this in a story.)
ReplyDelete@Ross: One of his iterations was a future version of Cosmic Boy (the version revealed in Zero Hour), but ZH itself probably changed TT's identity again.
ReplyDelete@Carycomic: According to some people (not me), the "Bat-winged pedophile" is Bruce Wayne. ;)
My idea for a possible Time Trapper identity is Krona, the renegade Guardian. I doubt I am the only one ever to have thought of that.
I wonder if the Time Trapper inspired Kang’s counterpart Immortus to take on the Whisperer persona... at least on Earth-STF
ReplyDelete@Kid Charlemagne: a falsehood coined by that infamous quack, "Worthless Wertham."
ReplyDelete@Tobor and Emsley: Exactly what I just said (sort of).
ReplyDeleteThe only one who might know is Doctor Manhattan. Could see the variations as well.
ReplyDeleteMy temptation, as a writer, would be to reveal the Time Trapper to be someone incredibly unlikely, like "Snapper" Carr -- only to have him killed by... the Time Trapper!!!
ReplyDeleteFor the STFU, I'd go with someone rather less unlikely: Anthony Ainley's incarnation of The Master!
I'd prefer Mark Metcalf's version more.
ReplyDeleteEffect of a Durlan (lsh) being Time T. with ability to see multi levels of time possibilities ?
ReplyDelete@Anon@10:11: Uhm... wrong Master.
ReplyDeleteBG, Play Missy for me.
